Wow. I knew the last name Bixby was related to the founding of Long Beach when I was strolling through your corner of the earth when I was 15, but I had no idea that it was your gene pool! I did wonder….but brushed if off as coincidence. It’s typical of you not to mention it, and not to try to cash in on it or use it to give you some unfair advantage. That’s classy.

You’re quiet, incredibly talented yet humble about it. Amiable, kind, intelligent, quirky, aware of how your actions affect others. When you come across someone like that, you have to “will them” into your life because it’s a delicate mixture of traits that’s a rarity these days.

It’s a brave thing to express yourself so openly and honestly. As I struggle through my novel, I sometimes stop and wonder if I should be that honest. But then I realise I owe it to the reader to take them down the garden path that comes naturally to me. And above all, to be me…with all my battle scars on display for all to see. It’s the cracks in someone’s façade that make them compelling, interesting. As I hit 30, I realised the mistakes people make, make them so endearing. Celebrate honesty, real emotions and the fact that you’re one of a kind, for better or worse. 30-something people just get on with creativity, kicking off their flip flops when they’re done….knowing they may have fallen flat on their face but they sure put a hell of a lot of effort into it! A shrug of the shoulder, a glass of white wine, a smirk and life goes on….

When I listen to a body of work like City Lights I’m reminded every time that it’s not about commerciality or a ..style.. of music. It’s about the artist closing their eyes, taking a deep breath and letting out all their feelings in as raw and intelligible form as they can! I’ll always stand by City Lights because it’s a stunning piece of work….an original, beautiful piece of work plucked from your imagination and turned into something worthwhile, pleasurable and honest.
You’re an acoustic Mark Ronson!

I am willing you to do wonderful things because every time something good happens to a great person, the corners of my eyes crease up and I grin like a fool.

Great article. Beautifully expressed.
