Patrick Leagas - 6comm
Patrick Leagas started his musical work back in 1977/78
playing drums, percussion
and early experimental electronic instruments in several
punk and post punk bands, the best known
being Runners from 1984 a band
fronted by R.Butler who later joined Patrick in DIJ during the later stages of
the first incarnation of the group. Tony Wakeford actually joined Patrick and
R.Butler in the last stages of the Runners - a little known fact. The Runners
produced only one recorded testament to their existence, a 4 track 7'vinyl EP
which though unusual in sound and form did not really do justice to the live
power of the Runners
In 1980/81 Patrick, Tony and Douglas P came together and Death in June was cast
During Patrick's DIJ period he advanced from being the back
line drummer to taking joint lead in writing and front stage with Douglas P
To everyone's surprise, Patrick decided to leave DIJ when
the band were actually just gaining critical success and gathering a large
audience and record sales just after the completion of Nada
Nada has remained one of the best post industrial albums ever.
For the next few years Patrick turned to physical activities
such as adventure traveling, war photography and joined the British army for a
while. Some of his photos from the conflicts in the Horn of Africa were
published. During this time Patrick also started to record music under the name
of Sixth Comm
Patrick mostly worked as a solo artist but was assisted by
several musicians during this period such as Dev who much later became While Angel's Watch
Patrick recorded and released several albums and 12'vinyls
which became classics of the time, such as the Fruits of Yggdrasil where Patrick constructed a semi-classical approach to Freya Aswynn,s vocalization
Of the Runes. However Sixcomm never
performed live and he remained very much a hidden artist, rarely doing
interviews or being involved in any art form

6comm then all but disappeared for over a decade only to
reappear again in 2006 with the Double Album Headless -let the moon speak
This album received very good reviews for its interaction of
experimental - classical- dark folk and is very unlike any other artist past or
present. His interest in Paganism, Northern mythology and near Eastern
mysticism remain ever apparent in his recordings
Again Patrick remained very quiet for the next few years and
failed to make a live appearance
Finally at the end of 2008 Patrick performed a concert in Halle Germany to a small but very enthusiastic audience. This performance, without any rehearsal at all, served as a test for Patrick to decide whether he wished to proceed with live work and whether he could perform solo in future
At the time of this writing 6comm will be performing in Switzerland and Italy during April.
Between 1978 to 2009 Patrick musical outputs of 30 or more
Albums, Cassettes, CDs under various names, having quite often been at the
forefront of genre invention, despite the fact that music remains as a part
time existence for him now as in the past.
6comm will be appearing at the Wave Gotik Treffen festival to play the first and only concert in Germany for 2009
He performs his retrospective live set - which includes
classics form DIJ Nada and early 6comm material as well as new material
This live set will not be performed again in Germany Any fans of the old Sixcomm/DIJ
classics will be sorry to miss this concert
A new album Like
Stukas Angels fall will be available at the show. A totally re recorded 80
minutes of classics and unreleased material from between 1984- 1994
Patrick also has a solo experimental side project- Schräge Musik and is an assistant
member of Italian Industrial Noise artist ANTIchildLEAGUE
6comm are also booked to perform in Italy, Switzerland and Spain this year.
