Last night, Sendero Flamenco blazed a new trail into unknown territory, Northeast Minneapolis. NE Mpls, previously famous for great ethnic delicatessens of such as Kramarzyuk's and Emily's Lebanese, great cabaret entertainment such as Nye's Polonaise with Lou in the piano bar and other styles and venues too numerous to mention, can now also boast a venue favorable to that great form from the Iberian peninsula, specifically the Andalusian province in Spain, Flamenco! That venue of course is the redoubtable 331 Club. The 331 Club is a year-old establishment dedicated showcasing forms of entertainment not usually found in a bar setting.

The performances of all drew enthusiastic applause from the audience. Quillan, the jovial booking manager of the 331 said that many patrons who were in the club initially just to have a drink, stuck around for the entertainment.

La Silvana said that she enjoyed the fact that there is a raised stage with a floor conducive to taconeo (now there's a word to Google!). Both guitarists agreed that having a sound-man to run the PA was a real plus.  Not to mention the lighting which put the moves of the dancers front and center. All in all, 331 is one of the better places to see and hear Flamenco in the seven county mosquito control district.

Hopefully, Quillan will have us back and we can get all our MySpace fans to pack the club to the rafters. If not just to see what all the stomping, clapping and guitar bashing is all about.

Actually, there aren't any rafters, just a cool stamped metal ceiling.
