So about a week ago, the kids were gone to my parents' house.  Shawna and I actually had some time to spend together, so we decided to check out the Jersey shore.  Everyone has been telling us so much great stuff about it, we thought we would really enjoy it.  Until we got there.

The great state of New Jersey actually charges you money to step onto the beach.  That's right.  The ocean is not free.  I don't know which is worse.  The fact that you have to pay money to go on a beach, or that Jersey residents seem okay with it. "Oh, it's only a couple of bucks," is their excuse.  Right.  If we went back with our children, it would cost us $20.   And it's not like the beach is all that great.  We have been to beaches in Delaware, Maryland, and a bunch in Florida, and all of them are better than the one we went to. 

So if any of you are considering a visit to the Jersey shore:  DON'T!

I beg to differ...the beach I go to w/ Andy and Lauren is beautiful. There is a beach in Wildwood that is free. Yes, I agree its STUPID to have to pay to go to the beach, but go down farther south, and they are VERY NICE! (and no medical waste either...thats always a plus) haha

That just means we have to take a REAL vacation to visit some REAL beaches!!! This could be a blessing in disguise...how about July 25th???

I grew up on the "Worlds Most Beautiful Beaches" (it said so on the sign) and they were all free. It just blows my mind that not only do people have no clue what a great beach is or that they should have to pay to go to it...INSANE!!!

If you guys ever want to go to a beautiful beach Panama City Florida has several of the most beautiful beaches and they are all free. I would love to talk Mage into going! I've been trying for 11 years with no luck so far. I miss my beaches. And you guys 2!

i have great memories of the jersey shore & salami sandwiches or something like that... i was young. we were living in bergen county at that point, so it was like a trip to another world

i once encountered a dead bloated hairless dog (at least, i think it was a dog, i didn't stick around) on a jersey shore. that, and several syringes. among other nastiness.

who wouldn't pay for that??? :)
