Who Gives Kudos:

Saturday, August 29, 2009
I'm taking a redeye flight to Worthington, OH for Matsuricon.  I'll be doing ANIME RADIO with a Green Hornet radio script for all the VA guests to perform unrehearsed.  Caitlin Glass will be helping me run ANIME AUDITIONS:  THE PROCESS panel.  I'll be Trevor Duvall's special guest on his podcast panel on Sunday.  Looking forward to meeting and hanging with the fans!

Also, wanted to let you guys know that starting next week I'll begin taking sign ups for private consultation sessions for voice acting via Skype.

What's Skype?
A free online voice chat program.  Download it at www.skype.com.  We'll schedule a time, ya show up, and one of us calls the other one and off we go.

What's a private consultation?
You'll get one-on-one professional critiques of your commercial and/or character demo and do script readings to help polish your acting skills.  You'll have my undivided attention for one hour to get individualized advice.  The goal is to help you improve and get you closer to readiness to record an actual demo.  Note, I do NOT produce/direct demo recordings.

Can I get a job in the industry if I train with you?
This is educational and does NOT guarantee you work, a professional demo, or an agent.  I am not on a talent search nor am I casting any projects.  This is aimed at folks who are serious about entering the voice acting field and would like some pro guidance.  All the classes in the world cannot guarantee you an "in", but their worth will always prove invaluable.

How much is it?
$75 for one hour, BUT if you're one of the first five to sign up beginning Monday, August 31, I can lock you in at an early promotional price of $50 for a one hour session (plus if you choose to do a second session, that would also be $50).  Payments are via Paypal only and due within 24 hours before your session.  Once your payment is confirmed, consider yourself locked in and scheduled.  Cancellations or rescheduling will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Isn't that expensive?
The average cost of private sessions for voice over cost twice as much easily, or more.
Granted, there are more experienced teachers, all with different focuses and goals.  I'm merely offering consultation.  You're getting someone with well over a decade's worth of experience in radio, anime, video games, audio books, and commercials combined.

What will I need for this private consultation?
Prior to our Skype session, you'll need to gather sample commercial or animation demo/audition scripts (just do a Google search) or write your own by transcribing some commercials you hear/see on radio/tv or copy down from magazines.  I'll have some as back up.  If you have recorded samples of yourself already done, make sure its uploaded so I can click on the link during our session to listen.  Or you can email once you're scheduled.  I'll also want copies of your sample scripts to read along with, sent either during the Skype session or emailed.

I HIGHLY encourage you to listen to multiple commercial and animation demos on Voicebank.net before our session, so you can see how they are structured.  See if you can find someone in your age range (soundwise).  Please take these steps so we can maximize our time.

SIGN UPS FOR MY ONE-ON-ONE VOICE ACTING CONSULTATIONS BEGIN MONDAY, AUGUST 31.

I wish I had the money. I'd set things up for it seriously even though I'm not really THAT interested in getting into it as a profession. I've always loved playing with my voice and acting though and would still have enjoyed the tips. Oh well. Maybe some other time if ya keep the offer open for a while. Good luck with all the people you get signed up for this Kyle! =D
