somehow we made it back to bloomington in one piece. on april 15th us and PUNKIN PIE played a show at fort 20 in bloomington to kick off a quick tour down through the region. starting in chattanooga where the pigs broke up a house show and we hauled ass across to the other side of north chattanooga where uncle tom foot let us to continue the rage in his basement....thanx mike for lettin us crash at the studeo and ruth for havin us over for breakfast..
up next we went to another one of our hometowns ATHENS, GA where we actualy started LANDLORD. this was a pretty epic night it was will's b-day and we were presented with a double stacker "willy nelson" cake. just 10 minutes befor we played at the hangar a punk rock wonder land. will got the speed wobbles while bombing a hill from the beer store busted his ass and broke his coller bone. none of us knew quite how fucked it was until about a week later when we sobered up and got an x-ray..... so will continued to rock it with us
as we passed through pensacola to do a stop at the greatest rock and roll club of all time SLUGGOS. then gainesville to rip it up at 4:20 fest with fellow rockers and best friends FUTURE VIRGINS. we ran outta gas 10 miles away from the show and rolled in just in time to kick out a quick set.... our first time in gainesville. thanx to chris clavin for the show and scum of the earth for gravity bong rips and shari & terry for coming down and partying with us. best 4:20 ever!
in the morning we would say good by to punkin pie. and hello to jacob hamelton jacob is about the best thing to ever hapen to landlord.... he and his tight bands took us all florida. we got to stay at his blue berry farm for a couple nights. hit up a hand full of skate parks he took us to a bad ass back yard minni ramp in st.augustine, we got to hit up the beach about five times and played some great shows thanx so much to the winslows, e.y.c., tubers, alligator, fiya, ben, evan, matt,every one that partied down with us at the MLK house those who went outta the way to catch more than one show that shit is tight!!!! all the wild ass ladies that sat around the bucket fire all damn night in orlando. sorry about the tree. lilly took extra good care of us and jacob on our lowest point health wise, she let us swim, cooked food, rocked the house at the skate park, and hosted a late night pizza party.thank you thank you thank you....
it was early the next morning when wills coller bone gave us a wake up call.... we scored a last minute show in tallahassee and we realizedthat he shouldn't be swingin that arm around so damn much so we played our 5 armed version of punk rock. chris and i tryin to do what we do with out bass and will gettin his bob pollard on up front singin in a sling.....it seemed to work out pretty well. we wound up slowing a couple song down and focusing more on harmonies than distortion..... we figured if we couldn't quite play our songs. the least we could do is sing em for ya. and good work will. i know i never could have done what you did.... so the show goes on
we called good friends terry and ashley up in p-cola askin for a place to rest and they ask us to play another show at sluggos with fellow athens rockers ELF POWER. and so we did..... it is always rad to run into ya'll outta town and ya'll really tore it up thanx for that... this would be show 9 in florida fuckin a and we only went as far south as tampa..... in the morning after the elf power show we got will an x-ray and a real sling yes it was broke and no he shouldn't have been playin bass on it.....fuck.
all of louisiana fell through so we had a long haul over to houston where we met up with an old friend ben and played a fancy club with his band bases loaded and also our good friend CORNBREAD did his solo hiphop set in wich he performed his houston version of "LOOKIN ASS NIGGER" look that shit up on you tube. thanx ben for the brick house and the lovely times. in austin texas we met up with old friend and country music legand PAUL HAZARD he set us up in his penthouse joined us for a fine dinner and came with us over to the punk show in a real gnarly ware house with yet again another half pipe. i was so fucked at this point that i didn't even bother droppin in once. the place was called the broken neck. our good friend mitch from greenwood in and his band sex advice played.....that shit was tight.
we made a quick stop in ft worth at the exploding house to play with brick fight and party garbage. we got there early skated all day played the show and decided to head up to one of my favorite places on the plannet....OKLAHOMA CITY.... dont quite know what it is about the place it just feels so much like home to me. we drove all night to show up at my friend augustina's house she let us in chilled out abit and put us to sleep waking us with the best breakfast sandwich id ever had in my life....
we spent the day running around gatherin up old friends and listening to willy nelson records. we got a crew togather and skated down to an art festival, hit up the skate park and went to the show space..... noone who ran the place was around and there was a hand full of kids waiting around for about an hour befor we decided to break in and do the show our selves and yes it wen well..... our friend petes whole family came out that was awfully rad..... thanx so much to every one in okc ya'll really are some of the radest folks i know.......
up next was kansas city to play one last show. cinque gave us a tour of his little block of radness. a couple lots with gardens and a couple houses owned by punx,,,,lots and lots of potential..... il say it now that in the next couple years a small hand full of punks are gonna make kansas city into the raddest city in the mid west..... so you might as well get the hell over there and help em out while they need ya.
the show was at a house and we played with a band called the SPERM. they were by far the best new band we saw all tour really rippin punk rock sorta flipper-ish we stayed in town and decided to call chicago off. we were in kansas city with no $ and st.louis and carbondale wound up fallin through.....so we drove home and here we are.....stop on in bfoods and make chris make you a sandwich. head over to the west side and ask will to tell you how to build a house out of straw and mud. good luck findin me. im headed to athens in the morning to start another tour headed north east with nana grizol... they are on our top 8 if you want to find those dates.....
i went on much longer than i thought i might but most of all i just wanted to say thanx so god damned much for all the love ya'll gave us out on the road. rock and roll means the world to us and there in no way in hell we could ever do it with out such wonderful friends. im sure i left half of yall out but you know who you are.....
as for LANDLORD NEWS we are gonna take a break and let wills arm heal. but the next show we have booked is gonna be an all out rager.... we somehow snaked the slot between athens threashers AMERICAN CHEESBURGER and region rock heros JACK PALLANCE BAND at the second anual CHATTANOOGA PUNK FEST "do you hear we 2008" look it up in our top 8 we are playing the night time show on JUNE 21st. its gonna be fucking outta control.
also jacob our good friend in st augustine,fl has agreed to put out our new album on cassette tape it is yet to be recorded but will for sure be recorded sometime this summer in chattanooga at REVOLUTION SOUND with our good friend and master of sound MIKE PACK. if any one out there is interested in puttin us out on vynal please let us know....
we still have a 7" split with add/c that is lingering around and were gonna make it come out somehow this summer maybe even on half day records.
we are also gonna repress the old demo "no matter where you live" on cassette tape that will be done by half-day with help from this is basement pop.
we are trying to head west via the south sometime late this fall / early winter do a big lap and hit the north east again. so if any one wants to help out with that start shouting at us as soon as you can...... were also trying to figure out where we want to be for new years.... any ideas......
