7pm LOVE IN AT THE YIPPIE MUSEUM!! WEAR YOUR LOVE BEADS!! Okay, the Yippies asked me to bring some of my favorite artists to the Yippie Museum at 9 Bleeker Street, right off the Bowery. (You can see what's left of CBGBs from the door). I will have the final lineup by TUESDAY... I'm gonna do an early set at 7pm, and a midnight set, of love songs, with that great rock n' roller Roger Bartlett. I'm thinking "TWO LOVERS" by Mary Wells, as well as "BEAT YOU TO THE PUNCH" by that same beautiful mezzo soprano. I'll be reprising "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" from the Otto's show, cause it felt so good to sing about revenge, even if I don't practise it... PLEASE support the live arts by kicking in $9. That keeps the house going, as well as the artists. If you are on foodstamps, bring food. If you have a $9 metrocard, that would be good. IF you have a trust fund and would like to adopt one of our artists, please see me after the show. EVERYTHING is POSSIBLE
10PM :KIpp Ellbaum is organizing some sort of LOVE FEST out in East Rockaway which is somewhere near Long Beach, on St. Valentine's Day, February 14th. 33 Main Street, East Rockaway NY 11518. 516-599-9515. (you brainiacs can mapquest the details, and explain it to your Luddite friends) There will be loud rock and roll in abundance, and Roger Bartlett and I will be doing a set of love ballads, ranging from hopeful, to maudlin, to downright syrupy. Arthur Lee's musical suicide note, SIGNED DC will be performed, as will Bacharach's "I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF", hopefully with a bit of that plaintive soul that Dusty Springfield brought to it (although having to be a closeted Irish Catholic lesbian raised in 60's England certainly put some blues on her chords..) For you fanatic JOY RYDER fans (and I DO mean BOTH of you) , I'm gonna pull out my nihilistic story of Valentine, the guy who had plenty of nothing, who committed murder, in order to gain TV fame. We'll do some Peggy Lee, some Nina Simone and maybe some Jimi Hendrix, if Roger is feeling the spirit. The mania begins at 9pm. Bring a designated driver, wear red and be prepared to have fun.
