Hace varios meses hemos comenzado el trámite de REGISTRO del nombre de nuestra banda: N.O.B.A.R.B.I.E.S: No Olvides Batallar Ante Ricos Burócratas Intentado Estropear Sueños. Desde el comienzo, fuimos advertidas de la posibilidad de que la empresa dueña de la marca BARBIE pueda OPONERSE al registro de nuestro nombre, debido a que la LEY especifica que puede hacerlo si el nuestro se parece al suyo, ya sea por SIMILITUD en la escritura o por FONÉTICA, osea por como se dice, se escriba como se escriba. Aunque es bastante obvio que nadie nos confundiría con su producto (razón por la cuál la ley da este derecho al propietario del nombre registrado), Mattel había registrado Barbie en todos los géneros de registro posible, por lo que contaba con el DERECHO de oponerse… Y ASÍ LO HIZO.
A pesar de que son siglas y una nueva palabra, MATTEL SE OPUSO POR SIMILITUD FONÉTICA, Y SUS ABOGADOS NOS DEJARON BIEN EN CLARO QUE JAMÁS ACEPTARÁN UN REGISTRO QUE CONTENGA LA PALABRA BARBIE, MUCHO MENOS SU NEGACION…
…NOS DICEN QUE SOLO NOS QUEDA CAMBIAR EL NOMBRE

A few months ago, we started the papers to register our name: N.O.B.A.R.B.I.E.S spanish acronyms of "Don..t forget to battle against rich burocrats tryng to destroy dreams". From the begining we were warned about the posibility of Mattel going against the register of the name, because the law says it has the right to do if they consider the name is similar to the wich one they own (Barbie), either similar by writting or fonetic. Though is quite obvious that nobody can confuse us with there product (rason while the law gives this wright to the owner of a registered name). Mattel had registered Barbie in every gender of registering, so It had the wright of going against, and they used it.
Thought our name is an acronyme and a new word, Mattel went against us because of a fonetic similitude, and there lawyers made as clear they wnñt ever let as register a name that contains the word Barbie..
They tell us, the only thing we can do is change our name...
