There's still some money coming in, but at the moment it looks like in 2009
8,369 Plungers raised a total of
$1,293,000 for Special Olympics during the eleven Plunges in Wisconsin!
Thank youto everyone who participated in the Polar Plunge. This year, Plungers
braved rain, snow, cold, speedos, absorbent costumes, you name it.
Especially considering these tough economic times, it is so heart
warming to see so many different groups of people put the needs of
Special Olympics athletes first. Because of the great success of the
Polar Plunge, Special Olympics athletes in Wisconsin will be able to
continue training and competing in 18 different sports year round.
Participating in Special Olympics isn't just about sports, it's a way
for athletes to meet friends and mentors, gain self confidence and
learn skills that help in many aspects of life.
If you're looking for a way to get involved with Special Olympics
beyond taking the Plunge, check out our Web site for volunteer
oppourtunities. Our next state competition will be the Indoor Sports
Tournament in Oshkosh on April 4-6 where athletes will compete in
Gymnastics and Basketball.
