Electric Bucket (self-released,
myspace.com/electricbucket). Nearly two years after tracking it, Electric Bucket's raw, face-grabbing debut EP stays true to the band's forceful, exuberant live show. EB joins 75 percent of the defunct Carlos Projeckt with powerhouse vocalist Stephany Brown, whose tuneful hollering is clear, furious and celebratory. Together, they make garagey post-punk, propelled by Ben Erickson's hyperactive, melodic bass playing, which is more of a lead instrument than Steve Hladun's trebly, bracing guitar. The band blasts through eight songs in under 17 minutes, each song in and out so fast the listener might pause and let out a quick chuckle after the final chord — because what was that, anyway?
