Since my blog yesterday I have been bombarded with messages informing me of how my campaign to impeach the president and his administration is a waste of time. They tell me how it is foolish and since the president only has a little more than a year left in office it would never happen. They are probably correct, but only because society lacks the passion and conviction necessary to become involved.
I said before that this campaign doesn't have to be only about impeaching the president. It is an exercise in the utilization of our rights and responsibilities as a citizen. The letters you write do not have to demand impeachment, they can be about the issues which concern you, the issues you feel are important. The whole idea behind the campaign is to make our government aware of the growing concerns of the citizens, to make our voice heard, to be noticed.
We will always disagree on issues, it is human nature, but we must agree on the fact that we are not being represented in government. Our representatives receive correspondence every day from their wealthy supporters and from corporate lobbyists, so those voices are the only ones they are hearing frequently enough to persuade them. We have been quiet for so long they have forgotten we exist, we have become insignificant due to our own lethargy.
I read many blogs, liberal and conservative, and I know that the entire spectrum feels we lack proper representation. The issues and opinions on how to solve problems differ substantially, but all understand a need for better representation, accountability and the removal of the corrupt politicians.
I ask you then, why can we not move as a majority to inform the government of our concerns? Why does partisan politics have to block our ability to exercise our most valuable right, the right to self government? How can any American, other than the very wealthy, corporate lobbyists or those already in government) not get involved in a campaign to effect change?
Even if you are content, happy with the way things are going, you must have something you would like to see changed and made better. So you should write to your representatives and tell them about it. That is all I am asking people. You choose the cause, just write.
The purpose of everything I do is to get the citizens of this country to wake up and take responsibility for the control of their government. It is as much a responsibility of citizenship as it is a right. Our government has evolved into one that no longer considers its citizens capable of governing themselves. We must work as one voice to correct this injustice first and foremost. Only through the participation of the masses can the trend be reversed, so I challenge you all, from the most extreme "libtard" to the "neocon's" on the far right, to get involved and write letters to your representatives and mail them on the 18th of August.
We can continue to debate over our differences of opinion, we can even spew hate and discontent if you like. But only after we have made time to become involved in the process of government, for if not our opinion are nothing more than horseshit. Mere words spoken, unable to effect change, impotent babbling.
Be heard America, speak out now through your letters to all of your representatives. They are the ones who need to hear your complaints, theories, concerns and even praise.
I hope this has clarified the intent of my campaign and the necessity for everyone to become involved.
All Power To The People!
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Thomas Jefferson
