As readers of this somewhat erratic blog know I usually confine my rants…sorry …well thought out views, to subjects like animal welfare issues or the rightful suppression of ungrateful musicians.
I usually stay clear of what are considered overtly political issues. This is partly because if you're past CV includes the initials SWP and NF it is probably best to assume that it's really not your forte, and when you're in a hole its best to stop digging.
However, very occasionally something so mind numbingly unfair, cruel and shameful happens even I have to put down the gardening section of the telegraph and put stubby finger to keyboard.
Pegah Emambakhsh risks being deported back to Iran, to prison and torture, and if the fate of her partner is anything to go by to her death by stoning. Since 1979 over 4,000 people like Pegah have met that fate. How her refusal of asylum can be justified I have no idea.
Now we have no shortage of lesbians in jolly old England, indeed if Sol Invictus is to go by there is a positive glut of them at the moment. However, I am sure this country can find room for one more. Below is a link to where you can sign a petition asking that Pegah should be given permission to stay.
