What a ludicrous e-mail to get on Christamas Eve! Spin.com's Nayara Montufar sent me an e-mail a few hours before I sat down to trade kind gifts with my loving family, and it read:
"If you got this e-mail it means you are a part of the correspondent team for Latin America, just making sure you know you're in!"
Wow, really? I had been trying hard to be a correspondent for Spin's new website, Spin Earth, which is about to be launched worldwide. I made a video at the Tim Festival in Rio which I had hoped would be my ticket. Backstage with Gogol Bordello, I got to register the routine those wildly interesting gypsies go through when performing, and it totally gives the reader/viewer a chance to take an intimate look. Since I do have experience, working for an year and a half with the biggest newspaper in Brazil, I knew I had skills and guts. So I got it, busters!
I'll let you know when the website has been launched. Or Myspace will let you know. Then, I will be happy to get material from bands who wish to promote their work worldwide! After a selection of course, since I am a picky little fucker, your videos might be on. Hey, see? We both win!
