Got mine in the mail a couple of days ago. Highly recommended as an inspirational tool and "advanced musical toy", not so much as a serious instrument. The sequencer is just fundamentally gimped in so many ways; 100 bars, 16 patterns max, no tweaking during song playback. Bam. It's painfully limiting.
Still REALLY fun to play around with. The sound is surprisingly massive for a game console typically quite tinny sounding.
Put up a kraftwerk cover/remix i did today just to try making an actual tune. It uses all 16 patterns and close to 90 of the alloted bars, which means it's about as complex as i'm going to get without doing some mad super low bpm trickery. The demo songs uses things like slow envelopes to modulate across patterns and such, but it's hardly ever going to be anything but minimalist electro/techno.
But hell. Super highly recommended. Best thing on the DS right now if you're a musician (next to Nitrotracker of course)
