I'll say it again... Christians are hypocrites!
Isn't it funny how everyone likes to throw this at Christians?
"I can't stand Christians! You're all just a bunch of hypocrites!"

I thought about it, and realized there is some definite truth to this.

Wikipedia says, "Hypocrisy... is the act of preaching a certain belief, religion or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself.

Christians tell others to repent for their sin, stop sinning, and live God's plan. After this, we pretend we never sin, but secretly continue until we're caught, and follow our own plans. True isn't it? We are hypocrites!

And I think we need to go on being hypocrites. The difference is that we need to ADMIT it!

I may be coming off as crazy, hear me out...

"You're saying to go on sinning and telling people not to sin?"

In a way, I am.

It's unreal to expect a person to go without sin for the rest of his life (unless his life ends very soon). This doesn't mean we don't try our hardest (with God's help) to stop it anyway.

I'm saying that we tell people they are to stop their sin and change the way they live, and ADMIT we aren't successful at this ourselves.

The only alternative is to continue to sin and simply STOP telling others to they're sinners.

Because of the accusations about hypocrisy, we've become afraid to tell anyone else when they're wrong. I believe we need to respectfully and gently let people know that they're sinning and they have another option - Jesus.

We can't afford to stop being hypocrites. We will ALWAYS be sinners, so the only way we can avoid hypocrisy is to stop doing what God wants - informing people that their ways are not right.

The next time someone calls you a hypocrite, they best thing to say would be, "Yes, I'm a hypocrite. The difference is that I admit I'm wrong and I'm allowing God to change me."

We hang our heads and have nothing to say, but in reality, the best thing we can do is agree that we're all hypocrites and sinners, so who wouldn't fit right in with us? ;)

Many Christians like to act like they're perfect, but their pride condemns them. Pretending to be perfect with a non-believer is SO damaging because they know it's impossible to be perfect, and your hypocrisy is thrust into view as soon as you slip up.

Don't stop letting people know that God loves them and wants them to stop their sin. Better a hypocrite that can save some souls from hell than a nice non-condemning person who helps no one. In fact, your idea of not trying to condemn will actually get them condemned.

A poem by Maya Angelou

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin’.”
I’m whispering “I was lost,
Now I’m found and forgiven.”

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I’m weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say… “I am a Christian”
I’m not holier than thou,
I’m just a simple sinner
Who received God’s good grace, somehow.

Love it!

Being a hypocrite is nothing at all to be proud of - NEVER be proud of it (no I know you're not claiming that it's good). Come to terms with the fact that you're not perfect, but strive to be perfect anyway :-) Follow God's plans, walk with Him and hold His hand, and when you fail, face up to it.
