Spring is upon us and the stars have aligned for REZ BALL III -- the tertiary installment of this semi-annual musical expos’e.

Springtime is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born, and of the cycle of life once again starting. This season’s day-long festival embodies these qualities, featuring our most diverse lineup to date, plus the advent of new, fun and expressive activities to engage attendees and give everyone an opportunity to leave their creative footprint.

For those new to the concept of "Rez Ball," allow us to summarize:

The greatest one-day music festival to ever grace Lanham, Maryland.

Setting: A mystical stone cabin nestled deep in the woods.

Vibe: Think late 60’s, only you don’t need a time machine.

What’s there?: Several excellent local (and not-so-local) bands, lots of beer, lots of food, and more peace, love, and harmony than your giant hippie heart could ever hope for. Oh, and hopefully you’ll be there too!

SPRINGLINE DRIVE Self-described "bongo-happy wuss rock" (although they no longer have a bongo player) these guys play good ole rock driven by catchy riffs and power chords.

AT THE ZOO The resulting lovechild of an orgy involving RX Bandits, No Doubt, and The Mars Volta.

LIONIZE An honest and smart reggae-styled rock that evokes thoughts of Steel Pulse, The Police and porno movies.

MAD SWEET PANGS For four years, Mad-Sweet Pangs have been based out of Newark Delaware, writing and playing original music for anyone who might listen- college students as well as folks both young and old. Their sound has developed into an Americana folk-funk blend they dub "Organic Rock." While "The Pangs" are creating something new and eclectic, there is a definite rootsy vibe throughout their music.

AMADOU KOUYATE As an oral historian of the Manding people of West Africa, it is Amadou’s duty to preserve his family’s rich cultural heritage. He will be showcasing his djembe and 21-string kora skills - which he has been honing since age 3 - at The Rez Ball. Don’t miss this unique performance, which will draw on generations of tradition from Senegal, Mali and Guinea.


EAT IT RAW We were honored to have these Bethesda rockers open the inaugural Rez Ball. Fusing elements of various genres of music (rock, metal, funk, jazz) to create a uniquely raw musical experience, Eat It Raw’s live performance takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride of unpredictable turns, gut-wrenching drops, and smooth climbs back to the top. They’ll be melting faces before The Rez set.

THE REZ - your hosts and headliners: The Rez is a band that defies the boundaries of one-word genres and non-descript labels. Taking elements of rock ’n roll, reggae, funk, blues, metal, psychedelic 60’s and 70’s rock, and hip-hop, The Rez weaves these styles into a soundscape of authentic, original music that feeds the mind and stimulates the soul.

JAM SESSION Make sure you stick around to see musicians from throughout the day take the stage in an impromptu jam to show off their chops and give you one last chance to shake your booty.

At the main entrance to UMD, instead of turning onto campus, turn the opposite direction onto Paint Branch Parkway

Cross over Kennilworth and 295

Turn right on Auburn Ave

Turn left on Riverdale Road

The driveway will be on the right

Park across the street from the driveway on MARTINS LANE. The house is the very last one at the end of the driveway.
