The Razzaq - Jewell Duo Indi - Chicago Tour
Another successful venture for Rejuvenatory spirit. The Razzaq - Jewell Duo, components of the Rejuvenation Trio, who also had an exhilarating tour in 2007 through the Midwest joined by Tom Abbs on cello and bass. This year in the Summer of 2008, it was the dynamic duo of Hasan Razzaq - tenor, alto sax & cello.
Ryan Jewell on drums and various percussion, making the trek into the unknown.
Forging on to new heights in experimental sound scapes and surprising audiences
with new and different texture laden fields of melody and sonic explosions.
Notable work was accomplished as they connected with varied guest at"Joseph Lehner’s
Home show" in Indianapolis, their first stop on the tour. On to Chicago, and having
an interesting night out at the “ Hungry Brain” as a duo first. Then joined on stage
by local free jazz musicians, Dan Godston - trumpet and Jayve Montgomery- processed trumpet and sax. After a stimulating and invigorating recording session at the
"Brown Rice", it was on to the High Point of the tour being the performance at the historic "Velvet Lounge " with Talib-Din Ziyad (vocals and flute) and Saalik Ziyad (vocals ), also joined on this set by Dan Godston and Joel Wanek on bass.
Then on to the finale at Northwestern University in Evanston, a suburb of Chicago,
to WNUR 89.3 FM, for a live radio broadcast session and interview with noted
D.J. Eric Ricks. He hosts’ the broadcast series “Chicago's Sound Experiment”.
