If James Brown were still alive
Little Richard would get a gun.
He'd practice in the backyard on cans
till his trigger finger bled,
tie the cans with cat gut
(whisper James in the mirror)
and act as though
Detroit reflected back smiles.

Little Richard is excited --
alive again like
prince purple shiva:
Take that mutha'fucka!
he smirks. Shrieks A-sharp
read for war. Dance.
