A few weeks back my friend Ophelia contacted me and said a MySpace friend of hers was trying to add me but felt I was shunning him. In honesty I hardly ever came here. So I came to add the gentleman, and decided to tinker with MySpace some more.

So I've recently tested out a couple of applications that allow you to increase your friends on Myspace. They allow you to pick a city or age or sex, and send out requests to them.

Myspace has a daily limit on the amount of friends you can add in a day though. So the novelty of it wears thin.

Last year, my ex used this similar application to increase his friends for his band profile, and to falsely increase the number of profile views it shows, and the number of listens his songs have.

Since I don't have a music profile I can't test out that aspect of the application. But it makes me wonder, if these applications are so easy to use, how can you really believe the "stats" on music pages here on MySpace. If a complete unknown can make it appear as if they have had thousands and thousands of hits to their site, when they have not, what is to be believed.

I just thought I'd fiddle with the applications, like I said the novelty of it wears thin pretty quick. Although I admit I've met some cool people and bands I might not otherwise have met using this thing.

There are a lot of programs out there, some free, some not, some for Windows, some for Mac. If you are interested just do an application search.
