Developed in Australia by the lateTom Bowen in the mid 50's, it has been used confidently throughout New Zeland, Australia, and England by the healthcare community. Tom alone treated over 13,000 patients per year, with an 80-90% success rate in relieving chronic pain. Following his death, these techniques blossomed and have been labeled as Bowen Therapy, Bowen Technique™, Fascial Kinetics®, NST, Vibro-Muscular Therapy®... given time, many more commercial names will be given to this simple, gentle and amazingly effective therapy. Ultimately, BOWEN is Tom's gift to the world.
It is a "hands-on", "hands-off" treatment. During the "hands-on" time, gentle finger and thumb movements are applied in an orderly progression over the muscles and tendons. Subtle energetic releases ripple throughout the entire body. The "hands-off' time is the most powerful. This is when the individual processes these signals. The information is integrated, stimulating the body's own healing mechanisms to restore overall balance and wellness.
