Hi,
first time I've blogged since i've been back in alaska ... interesting... well I played 2 shows in anchorage, at the wasteland opening for Tounge brain knee thigh and bobbys band,
Dan and Brandon from the scurvies called "fang spray" and another anchorage band I cant remember.
then
i played at phillis' opening for Lester and the hoax and Miss midnight agogo and the jeffries and a nice guy named jake sipos. these shows were very very fun, I am so glad I got to do them. I love to come to Anchorage and play, it was my first show there with banjo and comic books. I got to spend a little time with Tony and Luke from Reverse Retro and talk about booking with them. I always love to see Alea play, Bobbys band was quite impressive in a wild punk rock kinda way, and Lester, I mean, hes a brother from another mother. and Jeffrey consistantly cracks me up. I hope they will make the trip up to fairbanks sometime soon. I played a show haloween night with the Scurvies (who put on the most amazing show ever!!!) and members of shopping cart massacre played with me during my set (thank you!!) I really loved sharing a stage with all those talented bands, arctic noise symphony (whi has a new cd out! kudos!) the slippin mickeys and Sunday morning. Awesome show caleb- too bad the metal bands didnt get to play though. the show just started too late and 2 of the bands got shafted... unfortunate, but it happens when there are 9 bands on the roster... This was the first show in which I got to project my illustrations large on a screen. I hope to be doing that more in the future I have two main projects coming up, they are:
The lithe with Travis burrows. we are practicing and having a great time, and we will debtt at the marlin during hangover lounge, check out our myspace page. myspace.com/thelithe
also I am hosting a concert on november 29 with members of 3 chord ho! and the bar debut of one of my favorite fairbanks bands- WITH TEETH! i am really so excited about this show. the lithe can't play at it, which is too bad, but i will show my comic books and i will play as a backing musician for kendra jody and amanda and we all get to hear steve paige and angel play at least one last time, sorry its an over 21 only show... I am having this show to raise money for my mother's histerectomy surgery. she is recovering well, thank you but the bills are really high. I want to thank my friends for being willing to play with me! I am pumped and I hope to see you all there! I will have new comics, and maybe you'll hear new songs from amanda, kendra and jody too!
i got a mention in the local paper - latitude 65. here it is:
"Isaac Paris's performance is also a visual display... Along with playing music, Paris writes graphic novels for teenagers and adults and he'll read from his books as images are projected on a large screen." thanks Glenn Burnsilver!
