Striving To Be A Better Man
Released: 4/24/09
Sancrosanct Records

1. "Revive Our Hearts"
With the first breath out of my lungs, I want to praise the One who is letting me breathe. To the Maker of this world: I unashamedly worship You with all of my being and I give You all of my life and breath and praise. Because the only reason I have hope is the grace You've supplied so many times. Because everything that I have was given to me from You, and it's about time I acknowledge You. And when there's nothing left, when everything has been taken away, I know that You remain and are glorified.

2. "Blasphemer"
There is so much more to life than what we've shown. We are heirs to Heaven, so why are we content with earth? Why are we so comfortable in the dirt when we can have the gold of Heaven? We are butterflies rolling around in the mud like our caterpillar days of old. But we are called to so much more. We need to dig up our roots that we've planted down here in the earth so we can lift up our lives up high, out of our earthly reach. Then we can take flight and share in the splendors of Heaven. We need to realize our wings and fly out of the filth. Freedom to choose life; our actions speak louder than our words.

3. "The Well is Deep"
We need to lift each other up and care for people other than ourselves. Truth without love is hollow and desolate. If we don't learn to love each other, and love with sincerity, then this whole world will seem so hopeless and empty. You throw the first stone and you condemn yourself. When we show anything other than love we abandon Christ, who we claim to follow. Without You we are lost. Without You we are nothing. Forgive us our closed arms. Straighten with outstretched hearts. Strengthen with outstretched arms. The undistorted Truth is love and we are called to be the same. We need to lift each other up.

4. "Just As the Body is Dead"
I owe it not to myself, but to God, to improve, to bring me closer. Pushing harder to fight (this is right). With so many obstacles in this world, it's easy to get tripped up, to slide back and lose your balance. We need to look up and ask for help out of our self-inflictions. The key is not focusing on yourself, but on the empty cross. It seems so overstated, but when earnestly searched and honestly grasped, lives are lived and eyes are opened. Let every breath, every whisper, every word, and every thought, be glorifying to the One who has given me so much grace to not only make me acceptable, but wholly redeemed. I am striving to be a better man.

5. “You Swore You Weren’t Drowning”

6. "(The) Watchman"
Raise the dead and show the power given to you. Raise your hands to give God the glory. The Author of life deserves more than Sunday morning -- What have you done to warrant even applause? Raise the dead to show the abundance of grace. Raise your hands in honor of God. Why do we fail to give 10% when it should be our lives? What gives us the right to keep what isn't ours? We're called to show the same grace we didn't deserve. Grace received that we didn't deserve. Behold the power of God. I am just a part of a great shadow about to fall on all evil -- Not even ripping it to its core; just destruction. No torture, just death.
The end. The beginning of life. Behold the power of God.

7. "Sit, Walk, Stand"
Our feet will hit the ground once we move these words from our lips to our hearts. Then we can move forward and go where we're called. If we focus on what's above we'll see clearly, and if we see what's been done for us, not by us, we will see Glory. We are so small. We are no gods. Our gold will melt with the earth. Our heads are so much more vast than our self-proclaimed greatness. I want to apologize for all of my hypocrisy -- Please don't judge Christ by my actions, I'm the first to admit I need Him the most. Thank God for grace. I've done wrong but I'm blameless. I've spilled blood but I'm spotless. How sweet is the sound of the Resurrection and the severity of His love.

8. "We Are Burying Each Other"
There comes a point where reality should outweigh your comfortability. Relaxation caused by ignorance is placing your head on a landmine. If you close your eyes you may not see the sunset but the day will still end. You can ignore the sinking ship but it's still going down. Open your eyes. There's a big difference between this world's blind-eye love and a truthful caring. If you had the chance to help someone rid their cancer would you not take it in one breath? This world is going to end. We are all going to die. Open your eyes.

9. "And God Was in the Whisper"
It's seems so long since I've been in this place. The place where I am humbled by Your grace. So with this breath I offer all I can. Truly it's nothing because I'm completely broken. With this word accept it, God I pray. Almost too great to break the seal of my mouth. I praise You when I say Hallelujah.

10. "With the Sun Still High"
Legion in front of me, my hands are calm, my eyes steady. These chains are nothing more than paper, why let them hold me back? We've got them surrounded all around. This war is won. Why fear a serpent whose head is already crushed? What is there to fear with armies at our side, our enemies in sight? What is there to fear with all of the power that we've been given? And 666 is 0. They're already defeated. They're already under our feet. They're already dead. And we are more than conquerors.
