We all go thru life some walking, some running... sometimes we mistake mud for quicksand. We feel like we're sinking and the ground is going to swallow us up with no one even noticing. The truth is, it's a time for us to slow down and re-evaluate why we are in the place we are. As a musician it's a horrible feeling to find yourself driving down a dark road late at night after a show and finally realize your heart is so far from every word you just spoke and every note you just sung and every chord you just played. I've put so much of my life, time and money into performing - giving the best I could give... I feel so blessed to have come as far as I have in so little time and looking back I think I was too quick to take advantage of that. I am glad to have taken some time to rest and refresh myself with why I even started writing and singing... because I love it more then every breath I take. I hope in the years to come I can produce even more soul seeking melodies to fulfill my hunger for you to hear my heart.

The most important thing for a musician is to feel what they say or play. Yes, you should be able to connect with the audience, but most importantly you have to connect with yourself. Your head is in the right place, and I'm glad there is still musicians out there that know the beat of their own song. Many would do anything for fame and money and those are the important things to them. I'm glad you are doing it for nothing but the love and feeling you get when you perform. It's meant to be, and you know it's real. The best way to connect with everyone is to be yourself.

"because I love it more then every breath I take"

Knowing that, and being fortunate to have realized it you have nothing to worry about.

you are seriously amazing, rachel.
and i love listening to your voice, so hopefully you will continue making your amazing music for quite some time to come.
and hopefully you'll come back down to myrtle beach again sometime in the not too distant future...that way we can have another amazing show, and talk about the spooks and the pac-man machine that was trying to steal the show.
haha...good times.

Rachel, I have been there. Even though we do not have that connection, I have come to understand that these melodies and words were not meant for me to feel at the time but for you (the person who is touched by what has been written) I have been in your shoes, and I have felt this way, and I've even asked myself 'what am I doing this for' but have realized that we have been given a gift! Every word has it's strength in someones life. There will always be one person out there who needed to hear the words that were written, and you can never know when you write them what they may do for someone someday. You have a great gift! Continue to give it everything you have, you do have a connection that is deep with your music and because of this you can recognized the feelings you had tonight. Not everywriter can get to that point, but it is a point that every writer should. We hear your heart, even in the moments you think we don't.I look forward to hearing your next song...

Just reading these words reminds me of how serious you are about your music... and just to think that you're just now really getting out there with your music...... you have so far to go. You're allready successful.... I'm glad I'm having the chance to hear your music in the earlier stages. Your writings are allreay stunning and beautiful... I can't wait to see what's to come! And.... I still have to come see you at a show... everytime I plan to come see you, something comes up! haha =]

I know what you mean about being so far from what you're singing and playing.  I'm a music director of a church and I feel the same way at times.

Deep. I think I have some re-evaluating to do myself. Mostly on why God has me here.

Keep going with the music making.

Thanks for writing this it means probably as much to you as it does me.

This is lovely... but it's almost a year old?  By now I would have hoped you found some color.
