One of our friends keeps posting a comment for a MySpace Tracker that will allow you to see who has visited your profile. I clicked on it, somewhat interested. But what I found was this: when you sign up with them, you must give them the login name and password to your MySpace. You also give them permission to post comments to your friends, and to post bulletins.
Next, we started getting a huge picture ad for legal bud, from this same friend. I wrote to him and asked him if he was posting this stuff - and he swears he isn't.
My guess is that he signed up for the Tracker, and this is one of the comments they have taken the liberty to post, or that they are somehow in cahoots with the "bud" people, and are allowing them to post it.
I delete the comments, but in a few days, they are back again. I hate to do it, but I may end up having to block this friend. And he is a not only a MySpace friend, he is a real-life friend - darn near family!
Anyway, there is an article on eWeek today, about the legal bud. It seems that it comes from servers in Hong Kong, and their IP address changes every few minutes. They warn that the "bud" sites are most likely created to collect credit card numbers. You can read the article here http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2208119,00.asp
