it's taken a long time to get this CD out there...and yet it seems all of a sudden to be moving really fast!
I was looking at my lyric book last night and reading how the songs progressed...Queen of Ghosts  started off as a totally different song and kept on changing right til the end.
You'd have to call this CD a concept album as every song bar one (there's always one!!) is about a powerful character from history. The idea for this CD came from my contributions to a long term project of Simon House and it got me thinking that the concept album is no longer the province of yesterday its here and now and alive and kicking!
So our second CD moved in this direction and work began.
Don and I wrote about people who fascinated us; who had a good story to tell; Cleopatra,  Lady Jane Grey, Mata Hari and the African King Lobengula. Legends have their place here too with songs about Hecate King Midas and Oberon.
We have many musicians from the Spirits Burning camp who return for more music and mayhem; Daevid Allen, Steve Swindells, Alan Davey to name a few, plus new yet familiar faces; Harvey Bainbridge, Nic Potter of Van de Graaf Generator, Louise Bialik and Banco de Gaia.
My cover design is a photo collage of stone statues and mountains effected to make the whole thing a spooky gold  that delicately leaks blood...mmm totally tasty!




Graphics designer  Karen Anderson has done a superb job of the CD package...wait til you see it all!
