Hi gang, time for another update from the crazy world of the Record
Business....
   .....I was presented with the opportunity of delivering my newest album to
Friday Records for consideration.... and the challenge of presenting something
they could believe in, and would want to put out. Buried in the studio like two
mad scientists, Rex and I went to work. I sent them a "prototype" to get their
reaction, hoping they would just let it come out.... no backing, no real
support, just please let it be released..... then.......
       Rick Jarrard - President and co-owner - called to say not only did he
love it and want to put it out, he would secure the rights to include my version
of "Carmelita" by Warren Zevon, and also a recording I did awhile back of an
obscure Bruce Springsteen song titled "Dry Lightning".... heady stuff..... Major
Label distribution from a company nominated for two Grammy Awards this year, run
by a Grammy/Oscar winner.... sometimes determination and insanity are two sides
of the same coin....
      Of all the chances I've had in my career, this is the most promising. Rick
is the rarest of the rare in this business - honest.... and knowledgeable....
He's been supporting and encouraging me for years, waiting for me to deliver a
complete package he could run with, and now, he says I have. Now begins the next
step - "tweaking" the mixes until everyone is happy, and confident. I'll be
working on this for most of the month of March, so my live dates won't pick up
until April/May.
       For all of you who have sent messages of support, attended shows, and
bought the last couple albums... thank you. I think the new release is the best
work I've ever done, and I'm hoping you will love it as much as I do... it was
equal parts a labour of love, and an act of desperation, and as honest as I can
be..... when it comes out sometime this summer, I'll be touring in support of
it, and in between, probably playing some dates in the area - gotta stay in
shape - so stay in touch, check the calendar, and come out and say hi..... I
consider you all my friends, and could never keep goin' without your support and
