If you are willing to study out the history of the many and varied Denominations, and Break-Off Sub-Demoninations in existance, you will find that every Denomination, every branch of the Christian Religion has a date of creation that does not date back to Jesus or any of the Apostles.

All Denominations are man created Institutions that God did not institute. --- God created one religion which He gave to the Isrealite's (Jews). God eneded that religion when Jesus rose from the dead. God left behind the True Family of God. --- In Jesus's ministry to man He regularly condemned religious practice and ritual and taught the ways of God's unencumbered family. The New Testament books of Romans & Hebrews condemn the continuation of the religious practice of the Jews, the only religion God ever gave to man.

So the brief answer to this most obvious and intelligent question: 

 If God is real, why are there so many Denominations?

There are so many Denominations because man, from the beginning of time, has been subverting God, His ways and His plan for mankind, by playing at being God. There are so many Denominations because man is indeed that corrupt. Men did this, not God. Men want this, not God. Men honor religious practice, religious practice of their own design. --- Not God. Not God. Not God.

In closing:
"Christian" is a religious name, not a name that God has given His people. The word (Christain) appears only twice in the singular form, and only once in the plural tense (Christian's). Not once, anywhere, does God refer to His people as Christians. Not once anywhere. He calls His people Children. He calls His people --- His Holy One's.

Religion is control. God is freedom, liberty, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. There are so many Denomination's because humans tend to forsake true spirituality and gravitate towards corruption and controll.
