Once

Once when I was young I believed in love and fate.

Once when I was young I knew no fear or hate.

Once when I was young I thought I knew it all.

Once when I was Young there was pride before the fall.

Now that I am old I believe fate and love's a lie.

Now that I am old I know fear and hate both make you cry.

Now that I am old I have forgotten all that I knew.

Now that I am old regret's the only thing that's true.

Once when I was young I wasted time like some waste gold.

Once when I was young I never listened to what was told.

Once when I was young I lived life like there was no tomorrow.

Once when I was young there was no such thing as sorrow.

Now that I am old I have no time left to me.

Now that I am old I know that good advice is free.

Now that I am old I know my life is at the end.

Now that I am old faded memories are my friend.

Once when I was young my days were filled with hope.

Now that I am old I wish I'd learned to cope.

Once when I was young I discounted every breath.

Now that I am old all that is left to me is death.
