I'm in the early planning/scheming stages of a summer roadtrip. I need a mountain fix!! I'm thinking Colorado, then come back through New Mexico, barring any wildfires or other crazy act of nature. I love driving long trips, especially solo journies through awesome natural scenery. Also, I have an ulterior motive: Kokanee beer! It's available in Colorado...definitely will be looking to stock up on a few cases of that!!

If you're headed that way take Texas 36 up to Abeline, cut through Lubboce and pick up Texas 87 through the corner of New Mexico at Amarillo. Going up 45 to 287 is some of the most boring scenery to drive through. Or you could jump across through Hobbs, Roswell, take the Ruidoso pass (beautiful) and head north on 54 when you get to White Sands. Come back on 25 through El Paso but ditch 10 at Van Horn and take 90 all the way back to San Antonio.

The first song I heard on the radio this morning was "Wherevery I May Roam", which I'm taking as a sign from the gods that my trip is sanctioned!  haha
