The Press Play Show had the pleasure of speaking with The Kickdrums recently. Read below to find out why they are going to be a force in 2009.

The Press Play Show: Explain The Kickdrums signature sound?

The Kickdrums:
What's up guys? Our methods to create a beat vary, but overall the end
product is gonna have a strong melody that sticks with you and soul to
make it timeless. As far as our sound as artists you kinda have to
check us out for yourself. It's really our own sound. One blog site had
this to say about it, "There's no way to really explain the sound they
have, but I would venture to guess they sound like a dark Coldplay.
Pink Floyd meets Common meets Radiohead." (Legend-
allthingsrock.wordpress.com)

The Press Play Show: After producing for years, what made you guys want to start a new dimension with singing?

The Kickdrums:
It's always kinda been there. Fitts has been writing and singing hooks
for years. It didn't start turning into full songs until about 2 years
ago but it kept growing from there. We're always looking for that new
exciting sound. I don't know if we expected to find it within
ourselves, but here we are lol

The Press Play Show: What can we expect on the "Just A Game EP"?

The Kickdrums:
Just a Game is an 8 song rollercoaster thats gonna take you all over
the place. There's highs, lows, loops and all that!!! Fitts does all
the vocals and live elements and we both produced the tracks. All I can
say is turn off the lights, close your eyes, and zone out for a half
hour and let the music take u someplace.

The Press Play Show: What are your goals with the project?

The Kickdrums:
Our goal with this EP is to introduce the world to a new sound, The
Kickdrums sound. No one else on this planet could possibly have made
this EP or even attempted to pull it off. A project like this could
only be brewed in the melting pot of music that is Midwest America!

The Press Play Show: When + where can people find the "Just A Game EP"?

The Kickdrums:
It's set to drop on 3/06/09 with OnSmash.com. It'll be up on Itunes and
Amazon too. We'll def be shooting some exclusives to Press Play so make
sure to visit often to get that first.

The Press Play Show:
Your production credits include 50 Cent, M.O.P., Ray Cash and many more
Hip-Hop artists. Typically your production work has been just for
Hip-Hop artists, so what's up with the move towards a
Hip-Hop/Electro/Rock sound?

The Kickdrums:
We've never been strictly hip hop heads. In Ohio most people listen to
everything. Maybe it's because where in the center of the country, I
don't know, but we're just a product of that culture. We have the
skill, vision, and interest to experiment with different sounds and
styles so why not? It's a new creative outlet for us with no boundaries.

The Press Play Show: Any live performances coming up in support of the EP?

The Kickdrums: YES!!!
Our "Just a Game" record release party is Thurs. February 28th at
Liquid in downtown Cleveland. It's gonna be bananas, LITERALLY. We've
got juggling monkeys, playboy bunnies, and oh yeah, we're performing a
live set and djin too. Should be fun. Check our myspace for more info:

The Press Play Show: Any last words?

The Kickdrums:
Special thanks to Press Play and the whole Press Play staff for having
us. C.Truth keep doin your thing! We've worked with Mick and The League
since Day 1 so it's a monumental day for us to be here promoting The
Kickdrums debut project! To the viewers, just know that when you're
listening to The Kickdrums your listening to two honest dudes that want
to produce classic music that will make you sit back and think,
"@%*#*!!!" Enjoy!
