(My lovely fans...this is in no way aimed anywhere NEAR you :)

I AM good enough. This is for the bookers, promoters, elitist music festivals, music distro groups, venues, and stations in the LGBT community who apparently don't think I look hipster enough/femme enough/butch enough/edgy enough to give me the time of day. Yes...you're frustrating me. You're making me wonder what the hell I haven't done that you need to see before you see the potential in me. And yes, you are wearing me down. You are making me wonder why I keep trying to get your attention/help/performance spot/blurb-that-probably-doesn't-mean-shit-anyway. My lyrics should stand on their own, but you keep turning a deaf ear.

I'm sorry. Should my hair be shaggier? Should my clothing be more muted, more corduroy? Do I need a fucking golf hat and a gibson to get you to realize that I pour my heart into each word I write? Shall I punctuate each fucking self-inflated statement with a humble downward gaze? State each thought as if it is long-awaited prophecy that you should be thanking me for?

Apparently so. But you know what? I'm not that girl. And apparently not kissing your ass DOES hurt my career. So be it, you elitists. Just because you're wearing taupe and organic shoes doesn't mean I don't smell the old money and greed wafting from your holier-than-thou clique. I'm so sorry...I don't have a rich daddy who will contribute money to your cause in exchange for your attention. But you already know that, don't you? Otherwise I wouldn't be playing an Ibanez, huh?

If it crashes down around me because I won't nod politely and bow to you, then so be it. But stand back...if you think I'm uncouth trash now, watch out for the motherfuckin' shit that happens on my fuckin' way out. Bitches. :)

Mothafuckin' Julie.

(PS. Hey, Michigan "Womyn's" Festival. Yeah, you. Declining me 5 years in a row is a slap in the face...so it's not likely you'll ever invite me. But if you ever do...you'd better include my MTF friends in that welcome, too. Trans-phobic hypocrites.)

Yay Julie for standing up for what you believe in! There's nothing worse than a god damn sell-out! There's a helluva lot of us out here who like you for who you are, not what you wear, or even the brand of guitar you wail on! Knoxville is always glad to have you!

DMS...

Conforming to what someone else thinks is the way to go would never be you. You are one who blazes her own trail, for sure. Besides Ibanez guitars are for the real girls!!! J/K. I have that pic I took of you kissing the guitar, it came to mind when I read this blog entry!!!

I swear to God, I'll puke if you ever thought of being "that girl"! That "humble downward gaze" is the telltale sign of a beaten soul- it'll never suit you:) I love ya, Julie! Thank you for all you do!

You know who you are.  And that's more than a lot of people can say.  That people may not recognize a good soul when they see one is def their loss, but it doesn't make the slap any less painful.  Stay strong girl.

P.S. I can't see you donning a fuckin' golf hat anyways :)

A wise man once told me: "Right is right even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it." And in this instance I think that you are absolutely right.

You go Julie, hey there is a whole slew of lesbians in Great Falls Montana that love your music. Fuck Michigan, you can come back to Montana pride anytime we love you. Keep doing what you do and someday there will be someone who will look through all the shit and snatch you up, and all the people who passed you by will regret it. P.S. you don't need an Ibanez to to play awessome music, cause you already do.

It's better that people dislike/hate you for who you are.. then to love you for who you aren't.

Love who you are!

My two cents:  Ibanez makes guitars far more rockin' than that Taylor shit, and the Michigan Fest has always been the biggest, loudest, hottest pool of hypocrasy to stomp on the community.  Keep rockin' it your way-- you've got a ton to give.
