"I have, since the first release of this album, considered it one of the
best, most important and finest moments of neofolk and post-industrial music
in the history. My love for it has been expressed several times and I have
actually published another review of it back when I wrote for Evening of
Light, and I have to pretty much re-direct you there, since every word is
still most valid. Click HERE for the disquisition.
”Unsere Feuer Brennen!” was released 5 years ago now, and was announced sold
out last year. It didn’t take Cold Spring Records long until they understood
that WERKRAUM’s first mission isn’t over yet, there was still need for it in
this world, so late April bought us this reissue of that splendid album.
Things are pretty much the same, the artwork is still amazing but this time
we get it in black, and also this edition is presented in a standard
jewel-case. Two bonus tracks are added; one of them was previously heard on
the wonderful ”Wir Rufen Deine Wölfe” compilation, and the other one makes
its CD debut, and has remained unheard for my ears until this day, and it’s
really a fine dark ambient track.
Also, the sound is slightly sharper but not barley notable, which is a good
thing since the original issue had such a unique balance and production.
What more can I add? Those who missed the first try, make sure you’ll get
this awesome piece of martial and neoclassical neofolk this time around!
Personally, I’ve been wanting to listen to ”Unsere Feuer Brennen!” again for
quite some time, but other things always got in the way. Now, when I got
this edition, I had the perfect opportunity to revive and reflect on these
perfect tunes again, and it has been a trip full of nostalgia, and my point
is strengthened; ”Unsere Feuer Brennen!” IS one of the best albums. In the
world. Ever."
