The 3rd Annual Maine Cultural and Music Festival
On the weekend of September 25, 26, and 27, The Carriage house Café and Dragon Knights Gift Shop will present the 3rd annual Maine cultural and music festival in Livermore, Maine on route 4.
The Festival will present the Vikings of Vonhelm in a Viking village set up for you and your family’s pleasure. The group will give demonstrations in swordplay twice daily on Saturday and Sunday. The arms demonstrations will be at 2pm both days and at 7pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday. They will be happy to talk to children and adults alike about their history. The Vikings of Vonhelm are a live steel group, based primarily in Maine, portraying the era from 750-1000 AD, focusing on Vikings in New England. The Vikings will set up a Viking village on Friday evening and will have ongoing demonstrations of Viking cooking and the Viking lifestyle.
Proceeds from the festival will go to two little boys who desperately need miracle dogs to sniff out foods for their allergies. Ethan Rines is a 4 year old, who lives in Turner, Maine and suffers a severe allergy to peanuts. Kyle Kopec is a 10 year old boy who lives in Freeport and suffers multiple allergies. These boys have received donations to pay for the dogs down payment, but they will need to be able to go to Colorado for 2 weeks with their families to train with their dogs once the dogs are trained.
The festival has some bands booked to play now, JD hurt and his band 2 other guys play acoustic guitar. They will play on Saturday at noon to 1pm and Sunday at 3pm to 4pm. Red Cross Sky will play also. They do classic rock. The Crash road Band will also play classic rock. Asylum will also play as will Paul Lovell Blues Machine. An exact schedule of performances will follow soon.
There will be a medieval pig roast on Saturday and an old fashioned chicken BBQ on Sunday. A beer tent will also be available for the pleasure of adults in the evenings.
Vendors are also welcome to sell their wares and we hope to hear from more bands to play for your enjoyment.
The Habibi Belly Dancers will perform for you and there will be a sword dance. The exact time of their performance will be forthcoming.
