Join the Club…

With bruises and beer stains now all but a memory from our momentous March show with Twisted Wheel, we now turn our attention to April, presenting to you a cast of fresh northern talent.

Topping the bill are Yorkshire’s latest prodigal sons, Club Smith.

…you'd need to reformat your brain's memory to forget. playlouder.com

Infectious and frenetic dance floor tracks to make the perfect soundtrack to your weekend. Leedsmusicscene.net

Club Smith have been tucked away in a weather beaten, Yorkshire studio writing dark, palpitating, heart swelling tracks that you’ll have trouble controlling your feet to, and if you didn’t think such a sound could exist, it does now!

Former musical incarnations saw band members touring with the likes of The Sunshine Underground & Kaiser Chiefs, and have won over the hearts of Huw Stephens, various regional BBC radio shows & XFM Scotland plus many more.

Club Smith are taking their new songs on a headline foray around this fine island, porting at Liverpool to ride the good ship Northern Empire.

Supporting Club Smith is one of Liverpool’s hardest working bands, Buzz Radio.

Formed in January 2008, the Liverpool rock/pop 5-piece has played all over the city and beyond, selling out the Barfly in the process.

With a repertoire of songs about politics, life, friends and heartache, Buzz Radio bring their army of fans to Northern Empire for a show to remember.

Loud and proud, Jajuka are no stranger to NE die-hards. The band first played for us way back in October 2007 at only our 2nd ever show. They have since gone on to sell out the Carling Academy 2 and play all over the country.

With infectious hooks and a front man who could entertain arenas, Jajuka make an overdue welcome return.

Completing the bill is local band The Candor. A trio of talented musicians with a shared love of 60s music and an uncanny understanding for how the rhythm of a song should sound.

Tighter than a mouse’s ear, we look forward to their NE debut performance.
With support from the ever-ready Northern Empire DJs, before, during and afterwards, bring your well tuned ears to the O2 Academy on Friday 3rd April for another audio treat that will leave the dance floor in need of an urgent buffing post-gig!
