Jack of all trades - master of some! Playing for over 30 years & still learning, yearning & burning! Learning to keep it more simple. The "right" sound of just one note, played with the "right" feel, can say more about you than you'll ever know, and I believe that's true of all musicians, not just guitar players. The yearning to play has never wavered with me. After all these years I still get a real buzz out of performing live, be it an acoustic solo gig, playing to a handful of people in a folk club or burning out Elmore James' slide licks to a few hundred more in a blues bar.

People often ask me the names of my biggest musical influences. There are many & the list is tremendously varied. I was an electric slide guitarist way before I became a half-decent acoustic player, therefore slide players who I took note of in the early days were Duane Allman, Elmore James, Rory Gallagher, Tony McPhee and Muddy Waters. In fact, Rory Gallagher was the first guy I ever saw live playing bottleneck.  As a "straight" lead player I've always enjoyed & admired those musicians who play with economy & style - Steve Cropper, Albert Collins, Jimmie Vaughan, T-Bone Walker.
Then into the mix you can add my good friend Mick Pini, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Freddie, Albert & B.B King, Anson Funderburg, Robert Johnson, Taj Mahal, Bert Jansch and of course, the one & only Mr. Ry Cooder.

You might like to know that I've decided to become a guitar tutor & pass on some of my experience & knowledge. Please contact me here or by e-mail Al.Sansome@hotmail.co.uk
