Diary of a Wedding Planner - Part 1

So, I have the honor and the privilege to be the Matron of Honor in a wedding that I am also planning and organizing.  I thought this would be a great opportunity to do a blog detailing the journey to the event.

So here are the basics:
Date: March 8, 2008 at 2pm
Colors:  Pink, White and Silver
Guests: approx 100

This wedding has been in the planning process on paper for a while not but last week we finally got proactive with the planning.

Friday:
* Meeting at the church to take pictures of the altar and reception area so we can finalize all the floral and decorating ideas.  It's a very nice space.  Reception area is a little small but we will make it work.

Saturday:
* DRESS SHOPPING!!!
It's a small wedding party.  Just one attendant on each side and a couple flower girls. 
So, Saturday the bride found "THE DRESS".  Alterations are in progress
My dress is being order in the right color.  Flower girls already have simple white dresses to wear.
* Tuxes have also been picked out.  Black Cutaway style with platinum vests and bow ties.  Groom and Best Man will wear pink rose boutonnières. 
* Reception items have been purchased.  Cups, plates, tablecloths etc.

* Cake has been picked out as well.

Next on the to-do list:
*  Florist to discuss bouquets.  The bouquets will be the only fresh flowers.  All other arrangements will be silks done by Events by Tabitha.
*  Check on candelabra rental prices.  The church requires only artificial candles.  This could be a challenge.
*  Finalize invitations.  The invitations are a custom, handmade design.  Pictures are on the main website.  I will try to get a picture on Myspace soon.
*  Meet with DJ to finalize music selections.
