Messages ignored from the past!!

A few days ago I visited Coventry cathedral in the uk. The old cathedral was destroyed in the war and the remains of it are still visible outside.

The incredible modern building has a feeling of being inspired by some alien or angelic culture. It is profound, powerful and reminds me of the Parthenon in Greece, and the building in the last supper by Leonardo da vinci. It feels like it was built by god!

The reason for rebuilding Coventry cathedral, apparently, was as a reminder of the destruction of war and in a spirit of reconciliation but as so often we miss the message in the inspiration.

My grandfather, who designed the peace logo, whose true message has been lost in a world that doesn’t give a fuck about anything designed part of the amazing tapestry that hangs at the back of the cathedral.

When I walked round the cathedral I considered what an amazing space it would be for a rock concert but I suppose the idiots that run the church of England would probably regard such a thought as blasphemy. I don’t believe cathedrals are the property of the church they belong to us all!!

As I walked around this amazing building the true idiocy of  our world was revealed to me in all it’s glory as I was told by a fool of a women that I couldn’t walk up to the organist because the steps were dangerous and the church’s insurance company wouldn’t cover us. No matter that I only sue idiots not people because I am an idiot and fall down a step because I am careless. I told the idiot that this sort of crap was precisely the sort of thing that leads to wars.

Then I went into an exhibition about the Hiroshima bomb and was overjoyed  as I walked round the room and looked at pictures of incinerated bodies to hear lots of german women talking loudly in a room where there should have been absolute silence.

Finally I went out to look at an exhibition of “the war experience” telling of the joys of war and as I walked through this I was overjoyed to find children were more interested in playing with the old school desks and their idiot parents found it all tremendously amusing in this fun exhibition of a night when a thousand people were blown to bits in 1940.

I left with a feeling of sadness and a strong feeling that people who don’t give a fuck and never learn a thing from the past deserve to be blown to bits and that if I was god I’d be working on a solar flare or a comet or a plan for world war three because people that behave as we do deserve to go the way of the fucking dinosaurs.

For years now I’ve been trying to get people to give a damn. I suppose we might get it and figure out that we get nothing worthwhile until we start giving a damn about others but that would require people all over the planet to figure out that it will take a bit more than giving a few dollars to some fucking charity or other to fix the world, it would require us all to give a damn and I see precious little sign of most people taking their heads out of the sand or more accurately from out of their selfish shitty little arses.

I suppose that when we’ve been wiped off the planet some other more intelligent lifeform will arrive and the amazing buildings like Coventry cathedral will receive the respect they deserve!!
