Hi You Guys,

Again I’m sorry for being so conspicuously absent but this year has provided me with plenty of new challenges. Actually as a friend of mine calls them, "opportunities for growth". I thought I’d put up a classically eighties instrumental that I’m sure most of you will remember. David Foster had been using me more frequently along with Carlos Vega and Jeff Porcaro at this stage in my career, so I was particularly honored to play on this track which became quite a hit in it’s own right. We actually performed this live with the Loggin’s Band at a show at the Santa Barbara County Bowl when David showed up as a guest. We invited him onstage and the crowd response to the song and David was amazing. He got the bug that day to do more live performances and went on to perform concerts in his native Canada as well as elsewhere. I was flattered that he asked me to join him at these shows but unfortunately my schedule with Loggins wouldn’t allow it. I really just did some over dubs on this track but it is kind of fun to hear it after all these years. I hope you enjoy it.

Tris this is a great tune from a great movie. Glad you had the opportunity to take part in it. I just love hearing these tracks after knowing you were involved, it's like hearing them for the first time because "our" Tris played on them!! Not surprising at all that Foster recognized you for your talent and wanted you around more. So cool.

Thanks for the blog...when I saw you posted new music I said to myself "Hey, where's the blog? Tris always let's us know the history behind what he puts up"...so there ya go!

Hawaii or bust!! Have a blast in Japan too!!
See ya soon!

What! Again! This is one of my favorite 80's movies and I LOVE the soundtrack-I used to have it on album AND cassette!...I just bought this movie on DVD a few months ago, replacing my VHS copy...When I wasn't dancing to Footloose, I was dancin' to John Parr and swayin' to the love theme...

Thanks for the trivia...I've gotta go share it with my friend Karen now...I'll see y'all in June...and August...Melinda

How fun Tris! Great music.

Hey we heard ya laughing last night from a distance on Jason's show. It's always nice to hear your hearty laugh and see your positive attitude about life's challenges! That's what keeps you so young, my friend.

Keep it up! You're doing all the right things.

Hey, Tris. I was never a "Brat Pack" fan so I forgot what this tune sounded like. It does bring back fond memories of that time in my life, however. I also love to hear your stories behind all the songs that you've been a part of. When Melissa and I hear some of these tunes on the radio as we're driving around, I point out that you're the one playing the drums. She thinks that's so cool. I do, too, actually. Keep them coming!!!

Hey Tris,
the more you share, the more we realize how talented and prolific you are.... I love the soundtrack from St. Elmo. Great music. :)

did you finish up your drum solo for this year? It was so exciting those nights in Vegas - every night was different. Having left for home on tuesday, I can only comment on three nights of those solos. But monday night was best of the three..... you, of course, will say "gee, I wonder what I did that was so different" - LOL. But I'll always remember it as being absolutely spectacular.

Travel safely - sushi awaits!! and a set or concerts that will be really exciting for you guys :)

I always thought this was one of David's better songs, it's beautifully written. (I believe he wrote it to honour Rick Hanson, a Canadian hero)

Hi, Tris!

No need to apologize. You've got a demanding career and we are thankful and grateful to you for spending and sharing your spare time with us.

I've always loved instrumentals (especially since that is my forte musically, not songwriting) because they speak to people in a different way than songs with lyrics do. This one is beautiful because of its simplicity - it says more with less. Not a lot of fancy, overblown playing on this one and there doesn't need to be. It touches and calms the soul and tends to carry you away when you listen to it.

Thank you for putting it up! It certainly does bring back memories!

Be safe on the road, and enjoy your tour of Japan!

Goodnight.

Always great to hear from you Tris! This was a great song that brought back memories of that era when I first heard it, but at the time, never really knew that it was you at the kit until now. It was great to see you after the performance, even though it was brief in December 2007 concert at Indianapolis, IN. I had sent another message to you via a security guard at that venue hoping it would get to the stage manager and then to you. Apparently, the message didn't reach you. Sandy and I are looking forward to seeing you in concert this summer, if not, the fall before the year is out. Shelby is still practicing along with me and truly treasures the hi-hat symbol you had autographed for him. Is there any chance that you would be doing a drum clinic at Woodwind and Brasswind here in South Bend in the near future? Take care of yourself, keep up with the great chops on stage.

Hi Chris, you're definitely one of my favorites.
I remember playing this in a cover band when it was on the charts.
How did you achieve that snare sound? Is it electronic or a loosely tuned top head. That's pretty common in the David Foster tunes.
Thanks,
Mur

This is my favourite film of all time!

And I love the music. It was really hard to find in the UK. I have an old cassette tape of the soundtrack somewhere.

Brilliant.
