A couple of weeks ago I sent out packages describing the upcoming MMiX Festival of Interactive Music Technology at Theaterlab on Oct.8-11 in NYC which I am curating and co-producing.
There has been some great news since then. WNYC 93.9 FM & 820 AM has generously offered to be our media sponsor. That means that beginning next month, they will be airing 300 radio spots telling the public about the festival. We’re very happy with that news.
Also, the NY Times Tech Talk Podcast (over 130,000 downlaods a month) profiled one of the artists, Dan Trueman, co-director of PLOrk, the Princeton Laptop Orchestra earlier this month. That too was great press for the MMiX Festival and we were glad we were able to get him on there.
Still, we have a few loose ends to tie up in regards to securing essentials that the festival needs: sound system extras, extra tables and chairs, and other supplies that are needed beyond the roster of great talent that is lined up to perform.
In the packet I sent you I included a donation card for the festival via Theaterlab, a non-profit multidisciplinary arts organization. I hope you took the time to consider making a tax-deductible gift to our incipient festival. Considering all of the other events that come to you with similar requests, I hope that you see us as a stand out event.
The endorsements of WNYC and the NY Times have been a tremendous boost to our having a real impact on the NYC cultural scene, especially in this, our first festival.
