Hey!

God showed me something pretty cool today that I thought I'd like to share with the rest of you. I've been praying a lot about everything going on with music lately. It seems like God never does things the way that I think makes the most sense! I was having a particularly hard time today with surrendering everything completely. I was praying about my job and future, and about where and what it is that God wants me to be doing now. It was really cool, because I was reading Luke 5 on my walk to work and one verse stuck out. So in the chapter Jesus is teaching a big group of people and he sees Peter's empty boat and he steps inside to teach from there.

My favorite part comes up in verse 4. When Jesus is done teaching he tells Peter "Now go out where it is deeper and let down your nets to catch some fish." I love that because it probably made no sense to Peter. He was tired from fishing the night before, and because of the recent lack of fish he was sure there wouldn't be any when Jesus asked. Nevertheless, Peter was obedient and God blessed Him richly because of it. I know that God is telling me to just be obedient in the small things and He will be faithful. I know that like Peter, Jesus is asking me to go deeper. Things always seem to get tougher the deeper we go in surrendering to Christ. I know that God was asking me to go deeper and to let go of my future. To toss it into the water and to trust Him to be faithful. Peter wasn't in charge of the catch, just the simple tossing of the net. I've been praying that God would give me the strength to obediently toss in my net and trust Him for the rest, regardless of my lack of understanding. He is so faithful, I hope that encourages you. J
