This album was recorded in the living rooms and bedrooms of three different houses, excluding the last song, improvised in the KDVS studios during a live session. Songs recorded in two other houses weren't included. Ten of them were recorded on our 4- track Tascam tape recorder, bought in San Francisco after selling some Llamarada t- shirts. We used mostly the same old amps we've had since our earliest days, except for a big one my brother in law (from Mexican death metal legends Mortuary) let us use.
Two of the poppier, more structured songs were recorded in the suburbs near the Mitras mountain, home of UFOs and slowly being eaten by building materials providers. Those songs were mixed by Ivan Ramos after a weeks long, juices - only fast. Two others were recorded in Daniel's new house, located on the back of a church, and mixed in a late night drunken state, to be sent to S-S Records the following day. Two of the noisest ones were recorded back to back in yet another Daniel's house after a couple of months in which we had not played together. The lyrics for two of them were written in a desperate state and recorded the next day, early in the afternoon. The planned, thought - about, obsessed - over songs weren't included. After every track list change the accidents and first takes took over.
Violeta (Selma Oxor, Ratas del Vaticano, ex Mama Burger) plays guitar in two songs. Yussen Nonself (experimental artist and local activist) added dramatic keyboards, ancient tin can percussion, and guitar in two others.
Cover art done by Herla Alarcon, former Llamarada guitarist (the Start a Fire, Lost and Close your eyes CD-Rs), who also did the covers for our 7"s. Produced by Scott Soriano and Los Llamarada for S. S. Records. http://www.s-srecords.com/
During the recording our city (Monterrey, sometimes abbreviated Mty) accelerated its fall into violence and corruption, so by the end even my car had been stolen. Some of us had also changed our jobs by then. When we started I was in a doomed project for an adult entertainment guide and Estrella was working in a prison (one of the first and unreleased songs was about one of the prison guards). By the end Estrella was a dance teacher, Juan was working in a rehab clinic and I was an editor for the State University where we had met years before. Daniel has kept his job during the hard times and is currently a psychologist for some junior high schools.
What's next? We would like to return to the West Coast in the summer, and have received new invitations to play in Spain, so...
