Current mood:  aggravated
So it's been a while since I wrote in this bloggety blog thingy. And you KNOW I'm going to start this one with some line about an airport somewhere in the world.
And yes I am....

I'm sitting at a cafe in the Berlin Tegel Airport, waiting for me plane......

I sat here yesterday too, a day I would rather soon forget that try and describe all the incredible complex detail of how yesterday went to hell in a hand basket. But it did. For Don and I, it marked a new territory. Neither of us, in all our travel have had a day like yesterday.
To sum up...it went like this.....and as you are reading this, try and put yourself in our shoes, and imagine all this taking place before the sun has even attempted to fully set in the sky and take its place for the day.

5:30 am (3 hours sleep)
woke up an hour late
raced out of the hotel
got lost on our way to airport ( in the dark)
arrived at the airport an hour later than we planned to
miss turn off for terminal. x2.
(sun is making an effort at this point)
find terminal
1/2 hour before plane leaves
no time to return rental car
park car randomly
race into terminal
some guy who doesn't know anything is sitting at the check in counter
barely any time, he says we might make it
20 minutes to go
check in luggage
get lost getting bulky luggage to check in downstairs cause he tells us the wrong elevator to use
find the right elevators
15 minutes to go
get back to counter
guy who doesn't know anything tells us they are going to ding us for access luggage
but we have to pay for it at another counter
Don finds counter at other end of airport
they want 400Euros ($600)
NO WAY! F---CK YOU! (is what we want to scream)
Don still has rental car keys
Leaves keys with person at counter who says they will take care of that for him....no prob (wait for it..)
Counter person gets call saying it 's too late for us to get on our plane at this point
So where is our luggage ?
Guy who doesn't know anything at the first counter says it's at gate B20
'Down there, one floor down, on the right)
We head toward ' down there, one floor down, on the right'
nothing there.
we ask someone
he tells us 'how' to get 'down there, down one floor, on the right'
Customs offices
They have our luggage
We get luggage, head to rebooking ticket counter at other end of airport
They can't help us, we have to call AirCanada ourselves
Head to same smokey cafe
Call air canada
No flights till tomorrow (today)
Call hotel
Find hotel shuttle at other end of airport
All luggage falls off carts in crowded hallway
(one more thing, and I am ready to go POSTAL!!!)

Get to hotel
fall asleep, 9:30 am

So that was kinda how the morning went.
We slept till mid afternoon. Got up, had a bite, went for a good hoof, then went to Potzdamer Platz and went out for dinner and movie.
Something normal.

We decided before we went to bed lastnight that today was going to go smoothly, OR ELSE....
And it did, right up until we saw our rental car sitting right where we left it yesterday. Not having been picked up...

Now that we are all checked in long ahead of time and still have some time to spare, Don is running from one end of the airport to the other trying to find the SOB that has this rental car key, who said he would take care of it for us yesterday!

POSTAL I tell ya

one more thing...

Sounds like inspiration for the title "Airport Blues"

Warm regards,
Tim

Tell Don that we never have a day like that in Schlegel, Oklahoma. He never should have left. Should have sent for you. Seriously I hope things improve. I am enjoying your tunes more and more all the time. Thanks for pursuing your career. You give the rest of us wannabes encouragement and some great music in the bargain. You are a delight!
