The CARNIE BUMS invaded Aurora on Saturday night, returning to Signature's Bar in Aurora. Signature's is making a great attempt to bring rock music to Aurora and they should be supported in their effort. The night was a bit crazy as the CARNIE BUMS not only debuted some new songs, but totally disregarded the setlist and shot from the hip for two of its sets. We took some requests, called songs out on the fly and had a great time entertaining those at Signature's on Saturday. In addition, we debuted two new songs, or at least new for us. London Calling by the Clash entered the CARNIE BUMS sets by opening the second set, and Icky Thump entered the CARNIE BUMS world as well. Icky Thump also allowed D-toms a glimpse from the center mic as he took over duties on bass while Dr. Spazz moved by to man the drums. In the CARNIE BUMS world, one day you could be playing guitar, the next day bass, and the day after that drums.
Set two was a lot of fun for us last night as we took a series of requests in the middle of the set. Icky Thump, Gin and Tower, and Subsititute were all done by request. We thought the request portion of the show was over, but at the start of the third set, someone was calling for some Neil Young, so with a quick audible and instrument change; we listened to their requests. The CARNIE BUMS are all about accomodating our fans. Of course, we also pleased fans with our originals, as 40 Gate and PBR were both particuarly well received. Carnie Bums (the song) apparently revealed some long rising tensions in the band as C-dawg and Spazz started a kicking fight in the middle of the outro while continuing to play the song. Or just an example of two friends fake fighting on stage. You decide. Of course, there is no video of the "fight" so you just have to rely on the setlist.....
