Goodnight Loving "Up North Girl" shipping out in a few weeks. A-side a summer theme of wanting and loss recorded by Greg Cartwright (Oblivans/Reigning Sound/Mary Weiss) and two living room recorded weepers on the b-side.
Still have a handful of Black Time single we did...Here's some reviews of it.
Three tracks of sexy, simplistic rock n' roll from London's Black Time, linking primal, shuffling dance beats to loose, wiry guitar snaps and snot n' sneer vocals. 'Girls in the Garage' slinks across the a-side with its mid-paced groove and boy-girl trade-offs whilst the flip offers up one rambunctious punker (a Real Losers cover) and the slower, Neolithic stomp of 'Link Wray'. Good stuff and make no mistake, but, as with their slot opening for the legendary Monks, you do end up occasionally hankering for the kind of oomph that'd really help get the dance party started...

BLACK TIME:
Dance Party: 7"
I finally saw a clean (and –gasp-color) photo of Black Time. Am I mad they look presentable, two nice punk lads and a striped-shirt lady, enjoying a summer day, even smiling? Yes. I know you three are on your way to see Godard's Vivre sa Vie in a shitty old movie theater and will walk out afterwards doing the dance by Anna Karina from the café jukebox scene. But just scowl or look sick once in a while, or my tough rock image of you is all gone. This single is actually a little by the dirty garage punk numbers for me, compared to their other 45s. But still recommended. Karina would dance to it at the house party. –Speedway Randy

Fever – BLACK TIME (Trakmarx 7")
Dance Party – BLACK TIME (Bancroft Records 7")
Message From Control Tower – BLACK TIME (Rehab Records 7")
There are only a few contemporary bands whose releases I try to collect and Black Time is one of them. Every new record proves that Black Time is a master at drenching great & catchy songs in a cesspool of lofi-trash. "Fever" is another great noiseful attack and features 3 great songs (4 in fact, considering the two totally different versions of "Fever"). It all sounds noisy, macabre & fatalistic, yet it's very energetic and full of excitement. Beware: edition of 250 copies only! 'Dance Party' features the catchy "Girls In The Garage" that should set any garage punk party on fire! Other songs are "Feel So Bad", initially written for The Real Losers (R.I.P.) and "Link Wray" some kind of tribute to the master himself. 'Message From Control Tower' is big value again with 4 songs and no filler. "Public Information Film" and "Sirens" sound like clinical disco, music for negative creeps who keep on searching for kicks. In the liner notes, Black Time mentions the term 'rotten joy'. Rotten indeed but glorious all the way! *luKe* http://www.batarang.be
Black Time "Girls In The Garage" First thing they've done that I've actually played more than once. Their other stuff feels a tad bit more touched with effort while this rocks without pretension. "Girls in the Garage" not only oozes with hand-clappy goodness, but is also the title of a top series of garage compilations. "Link Wray" is raw enough to make you think the song's namesake actually wrote it. Rumble on you UK roughnecks.
