welcome to Hard to Starboard's first blog entry. we're so glad you've come.
we first want to thank all of you who have come out to hear us at open mic nights lately. your presence and encouragement have been so overwhelming. when we start to doubt ourselves, you remind us that we just might be able to make this dream happen. or maybe our job is to just listen, and allow it to come into being.
our current plan is to put our focus entirely on continuing to write songs, and also start recording the ones we've written. within the next day or two, our studio will be fully functional, so we're taking some time off from work next week to really dive in and see how these songs flesh out.
many of you know that our search for a band name has led us high and low, from "the unmaking" to "lulled awake" to "elsie" . . I could go on and on. but this week while we were playing at Dargan's, a friend who was there said that the phrase "hard to starboard" popped into her head. so we're going with it. honestly, we're so tired of trying to figure out the perfect name, and we also like the meaning of the phrase -- a complete change in direction, a new course, far from where we started. we realize that not everyone will love our name, but our hope is that a lot of people will love our music nonetheless.
