Catacombe - "Memoirs" This is the first CD to give me goosebumps in far too long. For reference, think an instrumental Katatonia but more sound-scapey, think ISIS or maybe 65daysofstatic, but don't think too much - let the sounds flow around you. There are beautiful stark moments, dense washy pieces and the final track, "Conundrum", with its heavy groove that you just want to go on forever. The production is fantastic, and it's all wrapped in some very fitting artwork. Without doubt, one of the finest works you will hear this year from any band signed or unsigned. An inspiring debut.
