How did you get on The Real World?
..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
The best way to get on The Real World or any reality TV show is to send in a tape or go to an open casting call. Just be yourself and be open and honest is all the advice I can give. It's really up to what the casting directors are looking for. For me, my story is a crazy one: I moved to L.A. February 2006 to pursue acting and modeling when after only 2 weeks of being out there, I received a message right here on myspace.com inviting me to audition at a closed casting call right there in L.A. for the next season of The Real World. I went, and the rest is history!
Granted, being on The Real World was not something I had ever seriously thought about doing—I had friends who had auditioned but I never gave it any thought just because I figured I wouldn't be interesting enough. I still can't believe that this opportunity found me; it truly makes me realize that fate is a very real thing, and I feel very fortunate.
-Was it weird being taped all the time?
Isn't this an obvious question? Of course it was. I don't care what anybody says, "Well you knew what you were getting yourself into when you signed up for the show, so why was it difficult getting used to the cameras being on you?" Um, because most people in this world are not used to having a camera in their face for every little thing they do in their daily lives. Imagine this: you have just gotten up; you have to pee, brush your teeth, wash your face, get dressed, eat breakfast, make a phone call, then leave the house. Imagine you do all of this day after day with a camera videotaping each step. It's annoying, it's weird, and it makes you paranoid. All of that. But you eventually do get used to it. I think it took me a little over a month and a half to finally get used to the cameras.
-Is The Real World scripted?
No, The Real World IS NOT SCRIPTED. Now I can't speak for other reality television shows, but I swear up and down that our show is in no way, shape or form scripted. The reason our show is so volatile with high emotions all the time is because of the situations we are in. Imagine this: you move to a different city, are put into a house with 6 strangers who you have very little in common with, and are expected to live and work with them all while having a camera in your face and a microphone pack on your back at all times… oh, and almost every night you are out drinking which of course only adds fuel to the fire….
You wear the mic pack as soon as you get up until you are ready to go to sleep—with the exception of showering or swimming. That means you are wearing this mic pack when you use the bathroom, when you are feeling grumpy and want to blow off some steam, when you just want to be alone. There are also cameras and microphones all over the house… above the bed, under the bed, in every corner of every room in the house. There is no hiding anything. There are no locks on the bathroom doors, and yes, people walk in on you when you are trying to poop.
This experience will be traumatizing for a person that cares about privacy or alone time. I cared about both those things, and still do; now I just have a greater appreciation for them when I have them!
-Will you set me up with Davis?
No I will not try to set you up with ..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Davis. If you like Davis, tell him, not me. I am not Davis' matchmaker. Thanks.
-Are you glad that you went on the show?
Absolutely. Being on The Real World has been—to this day—the best opportunity of my life. It not only gave me a creative outlet to make a living, it taught me an inordinate amount of knowledge about myself and the world around me. It forced me to grow up, face the truth about some harsh realities, and improve as a person. Can't say there's anything negative about that!
-What do you think got you on The Real World?
Well, I think I fit what the casting directors were searching for at the time. If you wanted to type-cast me into a fitted category at that time of my life it would read something like this: unconventional southern belle who grew up fast, loves to party, highly sexual, hyper-crazy, overly emotional, brooding and saucy with a bad temper. Or, maybe to put it simply: "The Crazy Bitch".
-What are you doing now?
Since the show finished taping last August, the other cast members and I have been busy traveling the country making appearances at various bars/clubs and college campuses. That is how we make a living after the show. Usually once a new season of The Real World starts airing, the amount of appearances you have slows down, so while it doesn't last long, it's a great time to make a lot of money while seeing the country.
So while I am still busy making appearances, I also realize that a new adventure must begin very soon, so I am in the process of figuring that out right now!
