Top 10 Boxers of all time...
Current mood: focused

1    "The Brockton Blockbuster" Rocky Marciano:  49 - 0 - 0 (43)
His unorthodox boxing style was amazing. Every punch he threw was a knockout blow. He never lost during his professional career. His opponents by the end of the fight would not be able to hold up there arms because he hit so hard so many times he would break blood vessels. He was a NON-STOP knockout blow puncher. The biggest in the business. Amazing he won for his small size of 5' 10".

2    "The Brown Bomber" Joe Louis:  72 - 69 - 0 (55)
World Heavyweight Champion for 11 years. Need I say more? The poor fella was  forced out of retirement and if you know his life story, you know, it's the sadest story ever told.

3   "Sugar Ray Robinson" Waker Smith Jr:  202 -19 - 6 - 2 (175)
The term "pound for pound" was derived from this boxer. He was thee slickest boxer in the ring and absolutely the best pound for pound boxer that has ever lived. His punches we're not as powerful as some of the other fighters but by the time you hit him once he landed 5 or 6 on you.

4    "Bronx Bull / Raging Bull" Jake LaMotta:  83 - 19 - 4 (30)
He may have lost a few fights but this iron jawed Italian never hit the canvas. It's rumored that in the boxing match against against "Sugar Ray Robinson", the only reason he was able to sustain such damage is because he was drunk on Cognac.

5   "Black Uhlan of the Rhine" Max Schmeling: 56- 10 - 4 (40)
A great German boxer when he was in his prime. Was Champion between 1930 - 1932.  In my opinion he was robed of the title shot against "The Cinderella Man". The winner of the bout between him and "The Brown Bomber" was suppose to go on to fight for the title... he won and never saw that day. Joe Louis went on to win the title. Him and Schmeling had a rematch some years later and Louis sent him to the hospital in a 4 round victory. They went on to be great friends and Schmeling payed for Louis's funeral.

6   "Ole Mongoose / Grand Old Man of Boxing" Archie Moore:
194 - 26 - 8 (145)
Archie Moore was in boxing longer than any other fighter and still holds the record for the most knockouts. He trained Muhamad Ali and then lost to him in his 2nd to last bout before retiring.

7    "Mannassa Mauler" Jack Dempsey: 66 - 6 - 11 (51)
The first "People's Champion". His actual fight record is unknown because he also went by  pseudonym, "Kid Blackie."

8    "Cinderella Man" James J. Braddock: 51 - 26 - 7 (26)
Not the best boxer in the world but got his nickname from his own fairytale story. A washed up boxer who came up from the ditches to win the title against Max Baer, a hard hitting fella who killed two men in the ring.

9    "Iron Mike /  Kid Dynamite" Mike Tyson:  50 - 6 - 0 (44)
A great boxer who as we know knocked out most of his in the furry of hard hitting punches. After his loss to Buster Douglas he never was the same.  It is rumored that if he and Marciano fought Marciano would have been victorious.

10 "Jersey Joe Walcott" Arnold Raymond Cream: 52 - 18 - 3 (33)
The oldest boxer to win to heavyweight title. There is something to be said about a boxer that knocked down Rocky Marciano for the first time in his professional career. He retired after he won the belt and has no title defenses.

Boxing of today is nothing like the boxing of yesteryear. That's why most of my favorites are from when boxing was a real sport.
