Current mood: satisfied
In the midst of all of my turmoil (see previous blogs), I was preparing to record the new CD and came across a couple of huge obstacles that almost stopped us from recording. But with the generosity and patience of a few friends and the help of my Dad, it all came together.
We started recording the rhythm tracks on Wednesday, March 18 at Tommy Detamore's studio at Cherry Ridge. My nerves were a little frayed from all of the drama. We had a short day because of SXSW shows. And then Tommy called as we were on our way to let us know that his cat of 18 years was going to have to be put to sleep.
What else was going to happen?
Nothing really. We got everything done - in the middle of playing some great SXSW shows - the last one with Heather Myles was a blast and way too short. The new CD is finished. I think you will like it. I love it. It's different from "Between the Whiskey and the Wine". It is country - no doubt. But CDs to me are like paintings. This is just a different one - different colors and tones. Same artist. Same taste. Same passion. But just a different painting.
I'm not sure when the release date will be. I had intended to release this one in July, 2009, but because of all of the drama and turmoil, we found ourselves with no mixing time. So I'll keep you posted. I'd say we're looking at more like August or even September.
