Sorry for a lack of updates everyone, so here's whats going on:
We had to change our name due to the fact that there are close to 7 million bands with the name Bridges on myspace and well, that just sucks.
But we do have a new name and we are, and will forever be known as:
Via Coma (
vee-uh-
koh-muh) v.
Def. Through endless sleep
Filler: This is for those of us who enjoy a bit of extra reading. Via Coma was a band name that Greg (Kid Innocence) and I had created before Kid Innocence fell apart. The literal translation of Via Coma is in essence its definition. At the time I had been experiencing an intense lack of sleep, where I would snap in and out of consciousness if I was inactive. So I began began to think of how fascinating it was that the human body could never operate at its full capacity on social, cognitive and creative levels (along with various other hallucinations). The most simple of tasks became quest-like in their difficulty and I soon realized that I needed to do something about my state of mental health. So I slept. For 17 hours. Of course the deficit of sleep deprivation I had created was insatiable, and still is, but, I had a moment of lucidity when I woke up thinking of how life would be perceived if we were actually fully aware, and able to realize the full potential of the inner-workings of body, mind and spirit. So really what I'm trying to say, is that the name Via Coma, to me, is a social commentary on the state of which we all live in; a state of endless sleep.
In other news...
Things Are Going Well
We have:
1 Song completed entirely
6 Songs complete instrumentally
We're still aiming to release the demo at the end of November/beginning of December.
*****************Update 11.17*****************
We've decided to take our time on putting the demo out unfortunately for any fans and listeners, however beneficial in the long run. This gives us more time to perfect every song we're writing, and play them as best as possible. Because of this, for an estimation on the release date we're now looking at about March to April.
We Love You,
Via Coma
*****************Update 11.26*****************
We're excited to say the least. Of course I could spend hours attempting to substitute the most fitting synonym for how we feel about the material we've been writing, but I'd rather just stick with excited. And you know what? I stand by that word! Tangent folks, I'm sorry. Like I said, we're highly anticipating hearing this material recorded, but we still have a long road ahead of us and we're glad you're joining us. Over the next three weeks (beginning tomorrow) we will be recording the pre-production portion of our demo, and subsequently spending the next six to eight weeks following the completion of these pre-demo recordings writing lyrics and vocal accompaniment to these recordings. Then of course, will begin the arduous task of recording our debut. We're thinking maybe March for a release date? Hm. That'd be nice, but don't quote us on a definitive release time. More is will be told in the following weeks. To say the least, we're excited.
All our love,
Via Coma

Allow me to edit my previous post. It's early, I'm at work, and we've all been working way too much, but I might as well shed some light on our doings. It was Maxx's birthday yesterday, he's getting on in years, much like all of us. I am joking of course. We've finished drum tracking for pre-production now all that's left to do is some minor editing. We've had some dumb luck as far as the amount of recording we can do due to long work hours/noise constraints/time restraints/whatever other reasons that have impeded our recording. But all the same, we're close to finishing up everything drum related. Everything is sounding really good so far. Very organic, no EQ's or plug-ins (yet). After I finish up editing the tracks, we're starting bass. I think I might edit some drum tracks today after work, but we'll see. I've been exhausted lately, but creativity never sleeps. In other news, Nic bought a new cab from one of my close friends, you may know him from my ex band. He also exchanged his guitar at Guitar Center for yet another guitar. Yes, that's four guitars in three months. Cam's getting a new bass soon, it's really nice. Jesse and I are itching to start the melodic composition of our record but you know how it is, Rome wasn't built in a day. Anyways, we all send our regards.
It's still cloudy, Rob and Via Coma

It's far too early to be existing. It's approximately 7:45 AM Pacific Standard Time and I've been at work since 6:30 AM. It was frighteningly cold this morning when I got in my car and drove to work, but despite only having a little under four hours of sleep I feel great. We finished up everything drum related in preproduction about two or three days ago and have started bass tracking for the preproduction. We're all excited to say the least. It's still too early and I'll probably edit this later, RobPS Jesse and I saw "Cloverfield" last night and I highly recommend it even for people who don't dig monster flicks. It's intense.
*****************Update 02.02*****************
Hey there folks,
It's 2:20pm on a misty Saturday afternoon, and we're still recording bass for pre-production. I personally apologize to any of those who are waiting excitedly for some new updates other than visually. However, rest assured knowing that in exchange for a less certain release date (and at a later time), we will be putting everything we have into making this sound the best we can make it. We're still aiming for Mid 2008, but it could be earlier, could be later. Expect some sort of video blog relatively soon. I hope everyone's February is off to a great start, ours is looking busy.
Jesse and the rest of Via Coma
PS Cam is addicted to Heroes of Might and Magic V

Guys and girls! As we continue on our journey as a band we present thee with updates!Firstly, we have a radio show interview on
April, 14 2008 at University of the Pacific Radio Interview (Stockton Campus) 89.7FM or or you can listen live streaming at http://kpac.pacific.edu/. Kind of a big update here with our first public showing, we'll also be playing something acoustic off of our new record. Secondly, tonight we're heading out to Blakes on Telegraph to see our good friends In Reverent Fear, Now We Are Six, Wake Up Addy, Get In The Van, and Victory Drive play, a couple of us will be there for support among other reasons. Thirdly if anyone has ever heard of Twitter.com, it's a new site that basically takes the facebook updates, or myspace bulletins to heart and solely depends on that aspect of online socializing. Pretty neat stuff, we have a twitter account if you'd like to follow our daily updates simply go to twitter.com/viacoma and follow!Lastly, any shows in the near future locally, if you want to visit, chances are we'll be there to support the local music scene as we recommend you do as well! Jesse, and the rest of Via Coma
P.S. Hope you like the new default.

These past few days have been arduous, but rewarding. We're one step closer to finishing the final stages of writing for our upcoming CD. Rewind: the past two days were spent dismembering and reattaching limbs from an otherwise disgruntled creation, and we are overjoyed with the result. We can not express how truly excited we are to begin writing the vocal arrangements atop these instrumental compositions. We've already begun constructing melodic and lyrical sketches on these otherwise finished products, and there is a definite possibility that we will be sharing these sketches with you very soon. We adore you and thank you for your love and your patience.
Sincerely,
Rob, Jesse, Cam, Maxx, and Nic

So I stumbled across this interesting read written by our good friend Jarrod, and its quite spot on. X the quite, kindly, it's spot on. I've been tired a lot lately, but I'm enjoying the sunshine and attempting to ignore the jeering stick of the perfectionist within. Curses, I'm foiled again. Back to love.
Love,
Rob

Dear Readers,
Where was it where I left off in this tale of twists and turns. Oh yes, "What to do about recording". The 24th of March was our last post and since then an innumerable amount of change has occurred with us, and of course probably yourself, reader. I will try to be brief with what has evolved but forgive me if this entry becomes quite lengthy.
First of all, we have met a marvelous myriad of individuals on our numerous outings of shameless self-promotion, and when I use the adjective marvelous, to describe these people, it does not, in any way shape or form truly describe how truly spectacular these people are, and you know who you are. To all our new friends, you may be one of them reader, thank you for opening your hearts, minds and, of course, ears to us. The response we've been getting from them/you has been overwhelming and has surpassed all of our expectations. We can not thank you enough. This, paragraph, I felt needed to be the beginning and the end, because after all, without you, our art would be lost in the dissonance of the ever growing sound market.
The attempt to cover things in order is proving slightly daunting, but I'll try my best to do things chronologically. As you may have noticed, we posted a new "demo" up on myspace and I use quotes simply because it is nothing more than a demo. Meaning, it is subject to change and evolve, for better or for worse, through sickness, and in health, we are undeniably wed to our amorphous art and we must accept and embrace that transformation, and it already has. With that being said, myspace is going through a lot of changes right now trying to filter out the endless field of spam and in doing so we are undeniably feeling those changes (yes, this tangent has a point). Recently our "demo" entitled "I AM HE" was switched from being not downloadable, to downloadable. Now, this is our first real experience with "leaking" that we've ever had and in no way shape or form are we unhappy about the release of this song into the digital world, however, like i said, this song is a "demo" and was initially meant for you, the listener/reader, to gain insight into what we are doing as a band and where we are headed. As far as the meaning surrounding "I AM HE" I prefer to leave the interpretation of words to the listener/reader. If you'd like to know more about the initial intention behind that track, feel free to message us. I'd rather not taint anybody's perception of our work with my own if they have already developed a notion of what they have interpreted our work as.
Sacked the dove, sacked the crow. The birds are out. Despite our attachment to our previous logo, we decided as a family that we needed a change for something more closely knit to our name. A direct representation, if you will. You may have seen it and just as with the words sung in our music, and the expression in our instruments, we'd love for you to paint your own pictures of interpretation, but like I said if you'd like to know more about the initial intention behind our logo, feel free to message us.
Today is almost Monday July 21st.
We are almost home and we can't wait to invite you in.
Keep watching.
Stay Warm.
Love, Via Coma and Their Anticipation
*****************Update 09.14*****************
Dearest Reader,
Despite the absurd and ridiculous nature of accusations made by certain companies (i.e. Forever 21) on certain artists (i.e. Forever the Sickest Kids), the United States legal system continue to allow the filing of such frivolous claims. The finances that these lawsuits require, are absolutely devastating to most artists and often times brings about their utter destruction.
Due to the overwhelming list of frivolous lawsuits against bands, we are separating our name to eliminate any possible questioning or confusion of whether our name is associated with any and all companies. This subtle change will hopefully keep us out of harms way and may even aid in better pronunciation of our name.
Love,Via Coma

We have kept you in the cellar for far too long, Feeding you tidbits and scraps from our table, but soon, all too soon I might add, will you be invited to the table to alleviate your hunger. We've spent nearly two years in our kitchen; measuring, baking, roasting, searing, tasting, discarding, and creating. And after nearly two years, our concoction is in the oven, its aroma saturating every corner of our home, and soon it will depart from our kitchen. Onto the table it will go and into your salivating mouths. Without further ado, We bring you your satiation:

Quick update for anyone and everyone!
We have quite a few shows coming up this next month and would like to think that there's a convenient place for all of you to check us out (except for you LA'ers, soon!) and catch our tunes live!
We are writing more songs, demoing and going through pre-production to HOPEFULLY be playing one or two of them for some of our September shows. Right now we have specifically two that we're pushing for. And we will be releasing them... somewhere. That hasn't been determined yet.
We just ordered 1,000 more CD's, so if you haven't got your physical copy yet, stop by one of our shows and grab one from us! Or try to find us promoting :)
Since we bought the CD's, we now get to save for a van and trailer, and then we can finally come visit all of your pretty faces in LA! And actually just transport anywhere in a much more convenient fashion.
If you haven't already seen, we're on twitter now, follow us!
Love,
Via Coma
